wouldn't the motor get broken faster sence its running faster?

Higher RPMs means faster performance, but also more battery use if you are using a laptop. As for your question about it wearing out faster, no that is not really a big concern.

Think of it like your car. The faster the wheels go round(RPM) the faster you go right? Same principle applies to hard drives.

I personally have an 80GB 7200RPM hard drive in my laptop and it flies.

you want HIGH RPM's,

this basically means the disks of the hard drive spin faster, and thus can be acessed faster.

edit: no, its designed to run faster so its not a problem.
