He is too young and squirrely to play a CIA NOC agent/Hit Man. I am thinking Nicholas Cage, Mel Gibson, Steven Seagal would have been much better. Who do you think?

as a former Naval officer who worked in Naval intelligence, I can assure you that I met many NOC agents, and none of them were like Bourne. That is pure fantasy. Most of the NOC agents I met were older gents, 40 would have been young. The were very cool, calculating, and cruel when necessary. You would never see these guys running throught the streets, carjacking, or involved in spectacular car chases. Nope. Wouldn't happen.

no, he is perfect. and no, not steven seagal...that would just turn the whole series into a huge, lame karate fight. nick cage, maybe....he might have been an interesting choice, but i still think matt did a good job.

Noo,uhuh, no way, none of the suggestions you made would have been able to pull this off. Damon was "born" to play Bourne. He is not too young. In fact, all the suggestions you made are too OLD. Steven Segal with his belly down to his knees cannot act his way out of a cracker jack box. He does not have the depth of character that is needed for this type of movie. Do you really think that someone who struts around like a peakcock and acts cocky would have been able to blend in the way the character has been able to? Seagal does not have that quality.
The spy game is for youngsters, for the level of movement and jumping and sheer physicality in these movies, Cage, GIbson or Seagal would NOT have been able to pull it off.
Having read the books written by Robert Ludlum, the first movie made in the 80's Bourne, which was portrayed by Richard Chamberlain was a poor resemblance of the character. The way Damon portrays Bourne is exactly the way he is in the novels. Gibson might have been able to pull it off IF it was in the 80's but then there was Lethal Weapon- a role Mel was made for. Cage- nope, nope, nope. Good actor but not for this type of role
I am hoping they make the fourth book into a movie as well.

Edited to add: then this is why the movies are based on books.
the character is portrayed accurately according to the book.

No I don't think he was miscast. I always though he was brain washed into being a killer at a young age like really really young age. So to me it made sense that he was like mid 20-30. But if Nicholas Cage or Mel Gibson had played in the movie I probably wouldn't have watched it. because Matt Damon was in it is what made me want to watch it. I don't know a whole lot about being in the CIA and what not but I know that you need to be older. But I loved the movie and loved Matt Damon and I think he did a grate job in the movie...

Well, let me shock you to your knees. I saw the original and never thought anyone could redo that movie and make it work. They did. Yeah, he coulda been older and taller, the original-Richard Chamberlain and one of the Angels did it more elegantly, lots of very well practiced kissing etc. But, no, I think the people you mention would take away from a remake like that. Everyone would just be looking at them. I think Matt is reaching his own Peter Principle. He has reached his limits as an actor and needs to go buy an island. How many of them are left?? In the original Bourne discovers he isn't Bourne in that movie. They have successfully completed 3 movies and made it believable.

There's no way I could see any of the actors you mentioned playing Bourne's role as well as Damon did. There's a reason he was the star of this series, The Departed, The Good Shepherd... he's a good actor. He was perfect for the role.

Hmm. sturdy possibilities. the guy without guy (Clint Eastwood) - Sergio Leone's money trilogy Mad Max (Mel Gibson) - The Mad Max trilogy "Snake" Plisken (Kurt Russell) - get away from long island and get away from L.A. Wez, from the line Warrior, gets an honorable point out. So does The Terminator.

I think he was perfect. He's an awesome actor and I think those others might be a little too old to play Bourne.

Personally, he's the reason I like the Bourne movies. Don't think he's "squirrelly" at all.
