Well i was called around in late June this year by some person claiming to be an employe from a company called American Choice Readers Service and proceeded to tell me that i'm being rewarded for having good credit in a country that is in bad debt and they wanted to reward me for being so. In the reward program they promised me a $1000 online shopping spree, and a magazine subscription that they would pay for, and i just had to pay for shipping and handling, i would pay $58.74 a month for the next 16 months. It all sounded good to me, and being gullible, i accepted, i gave them my checking account number and all the info they needed. following weeks i would get a oder confirmation letter and everything. then one night i was talking to one of my friends about it and told me its all one big scam. to speed things up, today i called them and told them i wanted to cancel my account, though they told me that wasnt possible because i failed to do so in 30 days of sign up. What can i do! Who?

First, change your checking account ASAP. Simply telling the bank you want future payments denied may not be enough; they may be able to change the name or amount and have the withdrawals go through.
Any payments that have already been taken are probably lost. If this is a scam, it will be next to impossible to find the con artists and get your money back. You can report this to your state attorney general's office. They probably will not do anything about your case specifically, but at least it will put them on alert that there is a new scam out there they need to be on the lookout for.

It has already been over a year. There should be a way you could cancel if you want to. Never pay for anything over the phone. Never give out personal bank account number or credit card numbers. You may have to close your bank account and open a new one at a different bank.

It is a pain in the a** but you need to close your checking account. You can open a new in the same bank. Let you back know also what is going on. Like putting a stop payment on a check it will cost you a bit depending on you back but that all should work. Good Luck!!!

like the 1st answer reported, call the economic business enterprise and get the documents with regard to the organisation that fairly made the transaction inclusive of your account. i might first attempt to touch them by using employing telephone. If that's a phony huge sort or nonetheless seems suspicious, then notify the police and the greater powerful employer bureau. It additionally would not harm to place a fraud alert on your social secure practices huge sort. Doing this might ensure that no it is easy to open any debts, credit enjoying cards, etc that ought to look on your credit checklist. The social secure practices place of work provides you a huge decision to call to establish the fraud block. it is going to stay on your SSN for 3 months. the only difficulty approximately it is that in case you place up any new debts (ie satelite, telephone, mortgage, something) you will could desire to tell the credit bureau and enable them to comprehend that that's ok. ^^We had to try this whilst a bogus satelite organisation have been given my husband's SSN, mastercard huge sort, call, handle, etc... What a soreness in the a$$, although this is nicely worth it to comprehend that no one can use this documents to wipe you out or assume your identity. good success.

You could perhaps change your checking account. Thus they cannot get your money and file a report to your law enforcement.
Or you could go to law enforcement first and see what they say. I do not know if you can get a penalty for changing your checking info because I do not really have payments of my own.

Go to your bank and tell them to stop all future payments to the scammers, and try to get the bank to work to recover past payments made to the scammers. Meanwhile get bank statements and all correspondence with the scammers printed up and take it to the police.
