Probably becuse we are so bombarded with it. You can barely find a radio station that will just play R&B without throwing rap in your face. Or better yet, try watching a video show bam there it is again. Personally I will change the channel, but so many don't and try and act like they like it or trying to be 'down'

Because its the new fad. Most people listen to rap and hip hop because they like the beat; but if will be disgusted with the lyrics if they took the time to listen to it.

well i personally dont like a lot of rap lyrics but i like the beats and thats why i listen to it because i can dance to it and stuff but wen i really want to listen to good music i listen to REAL hip hop, mostly oldschool even tho im only 16 and i listen to a lot of r&b and neo-soul
why would yu listen to a certain genre jus to fit in? thats ridiculous and pathetic

Maybe so that other people will think they like listening to it thereby helping the "fake" listener to succeed in promoting a different self-image and get others to believe that they are really in to this type of lifestyle.

in this world its all about the groups and clicks and to be a cool kid. its the same as peer pressure. if everyone is doing weed in a party you maybe subject to do it to. drinking is the same way., clothes. i dont care for rap and hip hop. for reasons of my own. i think that people are jackasses for running with a pack but then what else are they going to do. someones got to lead them. :)

Actually these are for people who do not know how to sing genuinely but it is a fashion and people just love to follow fashion and be in the crowd

I listen to it because at school everyone's like, omg, have you heard this song (and it's a rap/hip-hop one) and I don't want to be stupid, so ya, that's why I listen to it... lol

i dont know??? i dont really like it at all!!! but i will listen to it when i have nothing else to listen to!! ill keep that in mind!!!=Dmost likely cause they want to fit in but i only listen cause i get bored sometimes!!!
