I had one done I was 20 weeks but my insurance covered it. My u/s tech just switched over and gave me some free pix. It was cool to see how much my son had developed from a "dot" LOL, but if you are paying for it, I recommend you wait until 27-32 weeks. Thats also how far most of the places that do them say you should be along so that you can get the best results. Your baby is not THAT develpoed at 20 weeks and they still have a lot more to accomplish before they are ready to come out. He look "normal" just skinny because they haven't develped their fat yet. I saw his mouth open & close, his little nose, eyes, hands, ect. Anyway, it is very cool, but not worth the money that soon. If you are paying wait a few more weeks. Good luck.

Totally worth the money. Do it at around 28-32 weeks...you get a better picture and the baby actually looks like a baby.

YES and YES!!!! Awesome experience... the whole family was in awe!! Make sure to get it done around 28-32 weeks of pregnancy. The baby is developed enough, yet not big enough that it is squished... I had mine done at 30 weeks and it was perfect!

I have seen one and it is truly amzing. There is no comparison to the old ultrasound pictures (which are pretty amazing too). You can so so much detail ,it is not grainy in quality. If you have the money for it I don't think you will regret it.I wish they had them when I was pregnant way back in the day. Best wishes to you and your little joy.

i got one at 19 weeks...but my medicaid paid for it. i would advise waiting atleast 24-27 weeks. the babies face will be formed by then. My cousin says that her most recent (34 weeks) one was VERY detailed and could tell that her unborn child looked like her son who's 6. good luck

It was well worth it. I got the platinum package and got to go at 24 weeks and get to go again next week at 30 weeks. My husband is over seas so it's something he can forward to getting in the mail.

Got a 3-D done, our OB just charged the insurance for a normal U/S. It was awesome. I am not sure if i would have paid for it though.

We did, and I would recommend it, though we were lucky enough not to have to pay for it. My wife's OB/GYN had the equipment, and charged it like a standard ultrasound to the insurance.

I didn't really see much of a difference between the regular and a 3D. unless there is a health issue with the unborn child, I wouldn't spend the money. On there other hand if your insurance will cover it, why not do it?
