I know I was born on Aug. 25, & my family tries to argue with me every year when the 25th comes around, saying, "No! Your birthday is the 24th, NOT the 25th." But they never started doing that until Aaliyah the singer died on me & my twin sister's birthday because I'm a huge fan of her, & my family just wants to try to bring me down.

But if that's the case, why don't they call me on the 24th & wish me happy b-day, then? & my birth certificate CLEARLY states that I was born on the 25th. They're jealous & don't want me associating Aaliyah with my b-day. But I can't help if she died on my b-day.

your parents sound somewhat nutty trying to change your b-day and all. many people are born, and die every day so if someone in your life were to die on the 24th will they then say your b-day is the 23rd?? my little girls day is the 17th of may and i would never try to take that from her, if i did i would also be taking it from myself cuz it was the most special day in my life. but i do like 8-24 also cuz that's my b-day:). if your parent say crap about it and it bugs you, witch it must, you should just show them the birth certificate and ask WHATS UP???

Yes that is dumb. Dieing is a normal part of life it can be very sad so I can see someone wanting to celebrate there birthday an other time but there is no point in denying that the 25th is your birthday thats just dumb. Good luck.

no offense...but why are you getting all worked up over this?

Why is it a big deal? If you do a search, you can find hundreds of other people who also died on your birthday.

Your family probably feels that you are still upset over the death of one of your favorite artists, and are just trying to cause as little stress as possible for you when Aug 25th comes around. Cut em some slack and just tell them straight up how you feel.

Some people who also passed on Aug 25th are David Hume (philosopher), a baseball player named Hoyt, Carl Brewer (hockey star) and recently, Peter Glotz, politician.

Yea that makes since if they're talking about your birthday is the 24th then why don't they wish you a happy birthday on the 24th?! That makes since. Well don't worry about it. Just celebrate your birthday on the 25th, and live life =).

Yes, it's dumb. Don't worry about it, celebrate your birthday on the 25th and just hope that they will be happy for you and your sis.

Or just celebrate on both days!

Yes it is dumb. Her funeral was on my birthday August 31st and I don't associate the two. It's just a coincidence.

Humor them. Sounds like it is pointless to argue with them.
