Mmmm... too true. Especially if he's a good singer/songwriter, people will flock to him like he's the messiah.

You asked two questions.
1. How does the sentence make you feel?

Well, it makes me feel as though I'm being warned that I shouldn't allow myself to be easily swayed by talented people. That I should do my homework rather than automatically accept whatever a talented person might preach.

2. What is your response to it?

My response is that I'm going to continue to be very cautious in my interactions with talented people. But then I try to be that way with everyone.

Let me close by saying that my avatar is appropriate. I really am an old guy. Well, not as old as some (67 next Tuesday), but old enough to have already learned the lesson to be cautious. But in fairness to talented people, let me add that not all talented people are inclined to lead others astray. There are some who no doubt are bad people, but there are also many of them, I want to believe, who are inclined to lead others to accomplish great things. Things that everyone involved would feel proud to write to mom about or have published in the newspaper.

Hope you found my thoughts to be of value to you.

I'd think this was more appropriate, "The greater a man's power, the greater his ability to lead astray."

A truly talented man can become a leader. A leader can talk people into doing things they may not normally do. The leader, being talented, having a Golden Tongue, talked his followers into doing strange things.

Well because you asked how it made me feel and not what it means, I will tell you that I remember to feel cautious about following anyone until I decide that he/she is going where I want to go. My response to it is to recognize and appreciate others talents, but don't become a follower because of them.

the more a man knows how to manipulate his surroundings, the more people will tend to believe anything he says. (man meaning man or woman). it makes me feel like humans are stupid and gullible and are so hungry for a perfect leader, we will grasp the first one that comes along, hence the "Antichrist"..............................
