Turn off the computer and get to it, this y/a is such a hook and a waste of time at times. We need to have and get discipline!
I have a problem with it.
So I'll stay away from it now.

You are just not in the habit of working on your writing on a regular basis. To for a habit, put yourself on a schedule. For example: Tell yourself that Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 7:30 you will work on your book. You can even set a timer if you'd like, and allow yourself days off. But tell yourself that will dedicate at least this much time. If you feel like working longer, you can, and if you don't, you can quit when the 30 minutes are up.

You are human, therefore a professional procrastinator of the tough parts of any endeavor... Also, chances are the start and ending are only so good to you because you have not yet had to make much sense of them with a real "descriptive in-between" body ... which most of us would wish to call literature!
Hope I'm wrong and you get it all right in a great American(or whatever) book... it is always possible, just very unlikely... Right?!

Because this is exactly the way that "the powers that be ", keep us focused on the mundane instead of the things that are really important to each of us as individuals. As if " blog-ing ", and setting up a " my-space " account isn't enough, they keep coming at us with some new distraction. These things that I tend to call mental xanax keep us from seeing just how f#!@ed up things really are. If that is fine with those of us who get caught up in the Internet " xanax ", than so be it. If not. Get focused, and do something important to you instead of falling into the same ritual of avoidance.

Do what I do -- get inebriated.
If you think I'm kidding, think again -- I've done of my best writing work during sessions that I don't remember having done.
Who needs a healthy liver when you can create a masterpiece?
Just don't make it a habit. :-)

You are working on it, you just don't realize it. You are taking in, processing and it is humming in the back of your mind while you laugh, work, play, etc. One of these days, when it is all in order (in your mind), you will sit down, and it will pour out your fingertips. (experience talking)

It will come in time... your mind just isn't ready to finish or complete or add. I would prefer someone to take their time and do something good than to hurry just to finish (my personal opinion).

I hate to say it but you seem pretty normal to me.
I read your question and the answer lies therein, as so often is the case.
