I live in Australia actually.
This guy I only came across while looking on here.
Believe it or not, we don't hear all of the news from the US!
Just like the US doesn't hear the news from here.
That is why I asked.

Barack Obama is a Democratic presidential candidate for the US 2008 election. He is believed to be the second strongest Democratic candidate after Hilary Clinton.
Obama is senator of Illinois. He has two published books, and lived in both Hawaii and Indonesia growing up.
His father was from Kenya, and his mother was a white woman from Kansas.
Obama is often considered a good representation of the American Dream.

A US senator from Illinois, he's running to be the head of his party (democrats) at the next convention (his opponent will be Hilary C.) So the next president of the US will be a first: either the first woman president, or the first black president. I think it's fair to say that the republicans will not get another shot just yet. The US needs a break from Bush and company.

I agree, it seems like he came out of nowhere around 2004.. Basically a charasmatic politician that people are getting excited about but don't know a lot about what his stances on things are (see: John Edwards)

He is a bi-racial man running for President, against Hillary Clinton who wants to be the first woman President, and Obama wants to be the first Bi-racial President what else to you need to know.

He's a media-hyped, second-rate politician who owes most of his success to the stupidity of his Republican opponents rather than anything he has done himself. He is very appealing to the gullible and easily led.
