They say the eyes are the windows or the mirrors of the soul. Nobel-prize winning author John Galsworthy wrote that one's eyes are what one is, one's mouth, what one becomes.
A pair of dark brown eyes did transfix me 14 years ago, and they haunt me still. It's not so much the eyes or their color, as the fact that those eyes looked straight at me, when so many people seem to avoid your gaze. (Perhaps they've been taught it's impolite to stare. But I'm more inclined to think it's an unwillingness to commit to a relationship, or even a mere conversation.)
Hope this helps to answer your question.

The hazel eyes of my best friend, whom I still think to be soul mate without the romantic connection.

The eyes are the mirror to the soul
One look at them and you can make someone whole
Intoxication or inebriation I do not know which
But your blue eyes are enchanting and they make quite a pitch.
Color were bluish green.
