I have been there myself! Good idea just making the conversation business. This person is obviously a trouble maker so stay out of it and be cordial but business like to this person. Make sure you keep taking the higher ground and don't ever lower yourself to others levels. Good luck to you!!

I have no time for liars! Don't they know they will eventually be caught?! Mine is a family member, not co-worker. I stopped calling because the lies were intolerable! It must be some kind of disorder, but it is so hard to listen to! They seem not to really know they are lieing. Sad!

No. But that made me think of my 8th grade teacher. He was telling the class that whenever he went out he would tell girls he was 29, 27, or 25. He is actually 34, but he looks that young. Anyway, some times he would tell people his real age, so he could never remember who he lied to. It was really funny.
Well, I guess you had to be there!

YES! And, like you, I stay all business. I don't dare reveal anything personal in case I'm a part of the lies later on.

I don't have a job, but there's this girl in school who's in my class who ALWAYS lies, to me and my best friends and everyone else. We used to be friends, but now she doesn't really have any.
She said she was going to go to this high school that prepared you for college by taking you all around the world. I asked her where it was and she said she forgot. She told me she'd bring the brochure, but did I ever get it? No!
That's one bad thing about being in the honors class for all of junior high. I have all my classes with the same people since 6th grade-going to 8th.

Very common in the workplace...I think your smart for keeping your relationship with this person completely professional. I worked with someone much the same years ago, and I made the mistake by developing an outside friendship with her, hence she turned around and back stabbed me at work, and than proceeded to set me up at work placing blame on me for something that she did. Keep it professional in the workplace...lots of jealousy out there.

All jobs have that. People at my job lie that are part time trying to get full timers fired so they can get their job. Its a sick sad world. You are right to avoid them. Keep to yourself. Its good to have work friends, but avoid any possible trouble.

Yes, and that wouldn't be nearly as bad if he wasn't so incredibly, absolutely world class bizarre also! I mean this guy is one that everyone holds their breath and tries to become "invisible ninjas" around so he doesn't stop and chat.
