I love the Red Sox for many reasons. First, of course, my family is either from Boston or Rhode Island, so it's pretty much common knowledge I should root for them. Second is because they are so much fun to watch! I mean, sure, they've made some awful desicions when specific people have had the ball but hey, I still love 'em. There's really no rules when it comes to the way you look or where you're from. With the Yanks its "No beard clean cut" but with the the Sox it doesn't matter. You can have cornrows or an afro or you can look like Jesus or whatever! They are, from my standpoint, the funnest team to watch. On that team is a couple handfulls of stars, I'll tell you. Some need work, some are rookies, but look how far the others have come! They were all rookies once! Fans have had our doubts but the Sox pull through and make us proud. I can't help but love the Sox. I can't help but really not like the Yanks. I think, (and this is just me) that if Derek Jeter had not commited to Pinstripes forever, I would seriously like him. I have lots of respect for him not only as a man but as a baseball player. He is a gentleman.
Returning to topic, I can't help but love the Sox! Players and fans, there's a lot of love going around for the Sox. The fans are loyal, the players are great, what more could I ask for?

Why do you follow your favorite team? The more I'm in this Y/A, the more I wonder what the hell is on people's mind. People follow their favorite team for numurous reasons.
The question to ask is "Why do you follow baseball after all that's been happening?" ie. steroids, Bonds and his 756, etc. Baseball has always had some **** going on.

Even though I live in California, I have always been an Atlanta Braves fan. It all started in 1986 when I opened a pack of baseball cards and the first guy was Dale Murphy. I started to watch him and the Braves and they have remained my favorite team ever since. Kind of weird I know but that's how it happened.

My team is the Baltimore Orioles and here is why. My father was in the Army in the Vietnam era, so as a reward we were sent to the most beautiful Presidio of San Francisco. One saturday morning in 1974 our father wakes me and my brother as if the house was on fire."Get out of those beds right now hurry hurry get cleaned up we are going out it is a suprise". We were scared but we followed "orders". We get in the car and we are off,to who knows where... about 30 minutes later my father says "close your eyes boys". We did and we ended up at the Oakland A's stadium, boy were we excited!!! We get great seats right behind 3rd base. My dad says "why don't you try to get some autographs" so we did. I got Brooks Robinson's!! He took my little pad, looked me right in the eye and said" is this your first game young man? I said yes and he replied I hope I can do something to make it more enjoyable". I told my dad who we got and he said watch him he is one of the best to ever play. Mr Robinson made a play for the ages, he went into the coaches box to "nip" the runner by a step! Dad said "see that, oh my goodness"!! The Orioles won the game 3 to 2 it was a great day.I now live 20 minutes from Camden Yards and have been to probably 200 some odd games during my lifetime even though the "O's" have been down in the past few yrs.My support will NEVER wain. I hope I did not bore anyone out there

My favorite team is the Orioles, and yes, they are approaching their 10th losing season, but there's just something magical about going to a game in Camden Yards and rooting on 'my boys.'
They may not be the best team in baseball, but many of the fans remember the glory days of Robinson (Frank and Brooks), Palmer and Ripken, and hope to see a return to that success.

The New York Yankees are my favorite team because I was born in the Bronx, raised in New York and I still live here. Also, the Yankees are the most historic baseball team ever.

Most of the time your favorite team is your favorite team because of where you live or where you grew up. However in the case of Yankees fans, most just have serious illnesses

I live in Florida (for the past 8 years), but I will always be a Atlanta Braves fan (I was born and raised in Georgia. I'm a lifelong fan of the Bravos, even when they were cellar dwellers! Why? Because they're the home team!
