If the house was completely empty I would need noise; not light. Between the pets and children silence would be harder to deal with.

Nope. I can't stand sleeping with any kind of light shining all up in my face. Besides, I'm not afraid to sleep at home alone. I even shower home alone sometimes.

Yes....I always at least have the tv on with the volume down when I go to sleep no matter if I'm alone in the house or not

no. I would leave the hall light on though and have a hard object down the side of the bed.
