I own both systems, and I can tell you that neither is definitely "better" than the other, it just depends on what you want.

If you prefer Mario Party and other minigame-based games with a hint of Resident Evil 4, I'd recommend the Wii. The mojor downside to the Wii is that, if no new controller extensions come out soon, game developers are going to run out of ideas. If yo decide to get a Wii, I suggest getting these games:
*Rayman: Raving Rabbids
*Trauma Center: Second Opinion
*Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (it's got a big collection of minigames) or Mario Party 8
*Resident Evil 4
*Excite Truck

The Xbox 360 is aimed more at older gamers and has more M rated titles. Get the 360 if you want more first-person shooters and violent action games. The downsides of the 360 include no motion sensitivity and that it occasionally freezes (this is a rare occurrence and I think it might have something to do with overheating, so if you give it a break every few hours it shouldn't be a big problem). If you get the 360, you should get:
*Dead Rising (I cannot express how highly I suggest getting this game)
*Gears of War
*Halo 3 (when it comes out)
*Dead or Alive 4
*Condemned: Criminal Origins

A few hits and misses are prevelant in all systems, personally I find the Wii to be the best, but someone could like the Xbox360 more, it completly depends on your tastes. However, I will easily recommend the Wii over the Xbox360, its cheaper, but the gameplay on the wii is pretty unique.

XBox360
(-) Has been known to overheat
(-) Result of overheating has been scratched games
(-) Lacks RPG's except for games like Blue Dragon
(+) Has some good titles on it, and has been out for over a year so..
(+) Plays your old Xbox games, cds and dvds
(+) Great if your a shooter fan (Halo3!)

Wii
(-) You still can't play DVD's/CD's
(-) The graphics aren't as good as the Xbox360 and PS3
(+) You can download old games onto your system from Sega, NES and SNES
(+) You have to get up and play it, its the game system that has made the most revolution in this console generation.
(-) Not as big a collection yet of the Xbox360, but its still pretty new
(+) You can play your old gamecube games and it has online capabilities.

the wii is much better. i have both, and in my opinion- get the wii. now if u get the xbox, get it with xbox live. you can download games, talk online, and do much more with it. of course, if u have wi-fi, u can download games with the wi, and check the latest news and weather. but a downside of the wii- the remotes take batteries. of course you can get chargers. not even for all games do u have to use the wi remote. u can use the classic controller or gamecube controller. the xbox is just the same as the new- only better graphics. so if you wanna save about $300 on the wii, with better games and more fun- et the wii. plus the wii has more M games now. so its not really a little child system anymore.

xbox's only last a year n a half n then 4 red lights.....kaboom n wii has cheaper games n more because of gamecube n virtual console also because wii is outselling s
every system by far (except ds) game companies are making more games also online would have been free a month ago but now its either 500 or 1000 wii points (2000 points = £15) so its a lot cheaper than xbox live because once you buy then you've always got it

the wii is more interactive but the 360 has much better graphics. the wii is starting to come out with online games, i have a wii but haven't tried the online service yet so i don't know how it is. xbox live is the best online service out there, hands down. if you want a crowd pleaser the wii is for sure one, you just have to find one in a store. different people will tell you all different things, its really just up to you and what you want.

The xbox has alot of problems, but not all do. The xbox has alot better game play, and better games, the wii is nice a sturdy, i have one never had a problem with it. But overrall i would go with the xbox 360 because its online play, many many better games. And i personaly like the xbox controler alot more than the wii.

Getting rid of GTA and saints row makes it hard, but i still have a few which i think are really good Mafia 2 - REALLY good Mafia game, great story, great visuals, an overall great game which i really enjoyed far cry 2 - An interesting game set in Africa, Its a FPS, but dont let that turn you off, its really quite fun and quite open ended red dead redemption - A great Game made by rockstar, like GTA but set in the Old west Assassins creed Series - Your a badass assassin with ninja parkour skills And i non-sandbox game i really recommend is Battlefield bad company 2, because the campaign is really funny and light hearted and fun. While the multi-player is really open ended

wii is better because if you buy it you can buy three games with it but the xbox you can only buy the system w/o any games plus with the wii you will be able to turn it on from wherever you are and you are going to start the game with 4 games incluiding the wii sports

In the most simplified way of thinking the wii is for the casual gamer and the 360 is for hardcore.
