Do u have to be connect to the internet downstairs?

it is easier to do it downstairs, since the gts is full of people asking for mews or palkias lol and yes you need to use the internet to trade downstairs. if you wanna trade with people who are near you, you could instead use the wireless room upstairs

If you have someone specific you want to trade with, the downstairs is the best spot and its where I do 90% of my trades.
The GTS is great if you're looking for a pokemon none of your friends have. But its risky, you can find good trades, but most are bad. I always deposit, ask, then come back later.
