The Belgariad by David Eddings and the sequel series The Malloreon by David Eddings is one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time.
Also The Obsidian Trilogy by by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory is one the greatest series' every written. They are:
1. The Outstretched Shadow
2. To Light A Candle
3. When Darkness Falls
Though these books are for mature readers only as there is a a lot of sex and violance and gore.
Also Eragon and Eldest and the Third book of the series whenever it comes out.
The Lord of the Rings
And the 'Dark Is Rising Series' in amazing, crazy good, and unforgettable.
The Squire's Tale" by Gerald Morris and its sequel "The Squire, the Knight and His Lady" are amazing reads
Finally the Transall Saga by Gary Paulsen is a great book

As 2 others above me reported, optimal journey and The secrets and techniques of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel sequence are mind-blowing. whether, optimal journey has no magic, and (extraordinarily in the later books) it acts much greater YA romance than sci-fi awesomeness. try The fake Prince (Jennifer A Nielson), Artemis poultry (Eoin Colfer), The Princess Bride (William Goldman), and Inkheart (Cornelia Funke). And this may be a e book in step with risk aimed greater at little ones, yet A tale dark and Grimm is remarkable. this is largely lots greater bloody sequence of unlucky activities in step with fairy thoughts. this is astounding. i do no longer understand precisely what form of books your buddy likes, yet i'm a 13 year previous lady, and those are a number of my favorites.

Depends on what kind of book you're interested in.
I would recommend George Orwell's "1984, " it a dystopia, psychological novel about the worst kind of communism (the best book I've ever read, and I've heard others say that, too).
Or if you like comedy, read "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller, black comedy, very hilarious but also thought-provoking.
Or if you like absurd drama, read "Waiting for Godot" by Thomas Beckett.

Read Twilight, its the first in a trilogy of teenage vampire romance novels.
You don't have to be into vampires to enjoy it, promise.
Edward Cullen, the main character has stolen the heart of just about everyone whos read the book. <333
Bella (its told from her point of view) moves to a rainy town to live with her dad, and eventually falls in love with a beautiful boy.
But there are complications.
a) hes a vampire.
b) he wants her blood
Enjoy Twilight, you will NOT regret it.
