I adore the name Sumer. Sumer not Summer, if that's what you meant, like some of the people here suggest, but I don't think you did. Summer is cute also, but the meaning is totally different. I'd prefer Sumer for a girl though.

True story.
A friend of mine in high school - kind of a trippy guy - changed his last name to Breeze. The reason was so that, when he eventually had kids, he would name the girl Summer and the boy Ocean.
He did eventually do that. Then a few years later he got divorced. Then he got married again. His new wife's name? You guessed it: Summer.
