The plausible seriousness of the question. (i.e. not to answer your homework questions or provocative and or insulting -- Humorous questions are totally acceptable as long as they are put forth as such.
The structure, including the grammar and spelling. A typo or misspeled word or two is ok, but gibberish being passed off as a sentence is not. (yes I know, it was to make the point)

Other than that, I mainly just look for questions that peak my interest at that time.

A lot of factors go into it for me. I decide whether it's something I know the answer to or not first of all. But I can't stand to even bother when the question is absolutely ignorant. They say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but I beg to differ. How many times have I seen the question, "Could I be pregnant?" Well we're no home pregnancy test, that's for sure! Or another great one is, "What do I do if I like this boy?" Or even better, "So and so doesn't like me but I'm friends with so and so and so and so doesn't like that, what do I do?" Keep in mind, they probably added atleast 4 "likes" in that sentence! Sometimes the silly teenage girls are just too much to take!
Anyways my point is that I hate the questions in need of really obvious answers. It's like, why did you even bother wasting the points to ask that? But I suppose that can have a wide range of tolerance depending on who's reading.
Sometimes I answer questions that I don't really know the complete answer to, but I know of a good website to refer the person to. I guess when it comes to a good meaningful serious question, I just like to help how I can. I'm addicted to this site. I can't help myself! Once I sit down here, it's hard to tear me away!

I base on answering the question on whether I can give the best possible answer to a question or contribute anything to help the person out .

Well -

1 - Am I able to actually give a meaningful answer to a meaningful question.

2 - What is the motivation for my answer? Is it be judgemental or to simply give an answer? Will it be helpful?

3 - Is the question an obvious troll question?

You know, I would really have to go back and look at the questions I've answered. I guess something that gets my interest or attracts my attention. I sound like a guard dog, don't I?

A question needs to require some thought put into the answer, like this one.

If it irritates me, I don't answer. If it deals with religion or politics I usually don't answer, unless it isn't a question asked just to provoke anger in people.
If it's a stupid question, I always answer with a sarcastic answer. (Goes against the "provoke anger" rule stated above, I know.) I just have a hard time ignoring stupid questions.

Firstly, if it rings true. If it feels like someone really needs an answer I will consider answering almost anything even stuff that seems silly.

whether or not the person seems intelligent enough to consider the answers as advice(answer), or if they seem like they just want to whine about their problems but not do anything to help themselves(no answer)-- but sometimes I like to sarcastically insult the complaining idiots
