are we abusing our jail system? is it right to send a kid who downloads music to jail or to get sued an unrealistic amount of money? its like the war on drugs and the war on terror, not matter how hard or what punishments you try to push on people, if people want to do something, they will find a way to do it, you cannot control human behavior to a certain extent.
is it right to put people in jail for non violent crimes? in no danger to themselves or others?
and should we learn from past mistakes and actions, and learn from them? if something hasnt worked efficiently, and theres more options, should we change those actions?

Dont be responsive to what you assert right here. The tax penalty would be $ninety 5 or a million% of earnings see you later because of the fact the quantity does not exceed the fee of a undemanding wellbeing plan, even though it is going up each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. yet with the help of 2016, the penalty will strengthen to $695 for an uninsured grownup, and as much as $2,0.5 according to kin, or 2.5 % of earnings, whichever is larger. What do you propose there is not any pre-present condition provision? it particularly is quickly out of money yet people who utilized formerly February are lined and in January this is going to likely be in result returned with the universal grownup coverage provision. Obamacare demands each guy or woman be insured and in case you purchase from the substitute you get a tax credit. you may no longer decide directly to no longer be insured. it particularly is a federal regulation. you're incorrect approximately that. possibly you ought to study the Obamacare website and the provisions. coverage companies CAN reject you for coverage till January, 2014 while the regulation is going into result. So, you have a condition, then you definitely purchase coverage, so what's your ingredient ?

If the law says so - then it is right. Every wrongdoing has an equivalent punishment - as it is supposed to be. Downloading without paying is stealing, right?
If we all practice righteousness, I would imagine a world of peace; Then again, there's always a bad apple, no matter what - that's where we need those laws to implement. Harse punishment? Perhaps, but those punishments were debated and enacted by the people we have eleced to represent us. And for us to be heard - let's do our job - let's go out and vote according to our beliefs...

I don't consider downloading music stealing, but I think people who go into stores and steal things should be in trouble - so I DO thing some non-violent crimes merit some penalty. Jail time, a fine, probation, community service....whatever

While I agree jail should be reserved for violent criminals only...and the rest should get work details.
You also said if people want to do something they will find a way to do it.
The example you gave was stealing...and if you predict the thief will strike again, then jail seems reasonable.
At least until we get the work-gangs set up for all the non-violent criminals

Stealing is stealing, no matter how you slice it. When you get caught for stealing, you go to jail. If you want to change the laws then work your way to a position where you can do so. Like the old adage says.... If you don't have the time then don't do the crime.

Do you have a better suggestion for punishment? People who committ non-violent crimes are still injuring someone elsemonetarily in this case. They deserve retribution in one way or another to deter them from comitting the crime. Community service maybe? Any better ideas?

copkilla, take a look at who makes the laws that you hate and blame them. Frankly, I wish that our government would sit around and look for laws to repeal, instead of making new ones that limit our freedom. To answer the question, if we have the law, it's got to be enforced by the police.

It amazes me that people don't realize those who make the music want to earn a living and that their material is not free to those who want to steal it on line.
