This is the astronomy forum, not the religion forum.
And it is, "Could Jesus HAVE been", not "Could Jesus OF been".

If you read Genesis you'll see that Moses faced off against some of Pharaohs magicians, they were able to perform the miracles that Moses did. So, you can duplicate most of what Jesus did, well minus the healing, but the one thing that cannot be duplicated is the prophecy. Jesus made many predictions that were specific, not like "Cloe" the Jamaican phone psychic. Many of those predictions have come true, some are in the process of coming true, others are still waiting.

Don't you just hate the use of the word 'of' instead of 'have'.
But...to answer your question, Jesus was a politician whose message was taken up by other politicians for their own ends. The so called 'events' recorded in the bible were often works of fiction inserted to make the story more fantastic to con people into believing what the politicians wanted them to believe. Remember that people were very superstitious in those days and if a powerful politician (eg. Roman Emporer) told them that if they didn't do has he said they would burn in hell they tended to do as they were told.

Well I have been a Christian for 33 years now,and I don't believe Jesus was either a magician or a trickster. In the Gospels he is seen to be a man of truth, not deception. The works of healing and deliverance he did were done so that people might believe, and in believing have life through his name.

Raising yourself from the dead after being whipped with a whip with glass ends on it to the point that you muscles are showing, having your hair riped out of your skull, your beard riped out, carrying a cross through spit and mud while others jeer you and beat you, being nailed to that cross till your blood runs out on the ground is a pretty good trick.
David Copperfield has nothing on Jesus.

Sure, I heard that the whole water into wine trick was as a result of the fact that Jesus was intelligent and could read the barrels, as opposed to the more ignorant guests. So he just said that the barrel that said wine was water and everyone thought it was a miracle.

Certainly possible, but I doubt it. Why would he bother if he wasn't using it to get something from people? Instead he lived like a pauper and tried to teach people to love each other.
Too bad most christians don't follow through on that.
