I recently got married to the love of my life and although I am only 19, I consider myself real mature for my age. Things have been going great except for a huge scare as of lately. My husband and I had unprotected sex on May 23rd. This was one week into my cycle...so just to be safe, we went to planned parenthood and got an emergency contraceptive pill (ECP) about 3 days later. Sadly, about 4 days later our condom broke and this was right around my ovulation time so we went immediately to Planned Parenthood the next and got another ECP. I also got on birth control on my first visit to PP and ever since my period was late. I was 7 days late for my period when I took a pregnancy test and it was negative yet I felt so out of sync....so tired, nauteous...tender breasts. I tested again on the 10th day of my late period and still negative. About on my 12th day I started spotting and I was like "whew". Well, I woke up this morning only to find this HUGE clot hanging out of me. I freaked out

It was really sticky and about 6 in long and 2 inches wide....lots of blood, and not to be graphic or anything, but looked like a huge flesh of meat. It had marbled white fleshy stuff in there too (grey almost) and I almost passed out when I saw that. Then, I take my tampon out only to find another piece about the same size right out of me again. Was this a miscarriage? How could that be possible? I tested negative twice? Please help me....

I hope it was just a huge clot, although when I looked stuff online it said anything white looking is an unborn fetus. Please help me. Im on the verge of tears

It is extremely unlikely that you miscarried. using the ECP is almost 100% effective.
The ECP can mess up your cycle a bit, though - and missed cycles tend to produce 'clumps' and clots. They look a lot like raw liver.
Just because there were 'white streaks' in it, doesn't mean there was a baby - it would have been too small to see.

It's possible that it was either. At home pregnancy tests can be wrong sometimes, so even if they say negative, you could still be positive.

It may have not been accurate because you say you went and got the EPC three days after? I know you can take it within 72 hours of unprotected sex, but if you go outside that range, usually about 2.5 hours or more, it become ineffective. So having taken it [twice, for that matter] may have killed a fetus if it was growing inside you.

I would go to an ob-gyn and talk to them about this. They would have the best answer for you.

It may or may not have been a large clot, but if you're describing it as having whiteish-greyish matter in it, it's possible that it was something else. Lots of times you do get clots [obviously you know this] and most of them time, even if they're rather large and look like a hunk of meat, they're mostly all red or dark reddish brown.

Either way, if you're freaking out, I would go and talk to someone who has more experience in this stuff. Also, just for your info, I think that you can only take the ECP twice a year, so you should be really careful in the future unless you want to start expanding your family now.

Hope it all goes well and good luck.

My first miscarriage was the same way. It does happen and it is sometimes natures way when there are problems with the fetus. From here on in, just take precautions if you are not ready to begin a family. With sex comes responsibility, whether you are married or not. A child is a blessing and does not ask to come into this world. When you and your husband are ready you will know. So be careful. God Bless.

Wait and see. if it was a miscarriage, then it should be over.
