I am a total clean freak and what I do is disconnect the keyboard and slightly damp (not toally soaked) a cloth with a little bit of hand sanitizer and then I wipe it over the key board lightly.
Then go at it with the air spray can. You can get them at any pffice uspply store and all this dirt will come flying out. Then turn it upside down and gently pat it (like burping a baby) and then wife again and viola!

I take mine apart, starting by taking out certain keys, then placing them somewhere else in the same order, and cleaning the inside out with Q-tips. That's really the best way I've found to really get it clean. Also spray the keys with a disinfectant, wipe, dry and place back in it's original spot. For an easy way to clean it, use a dust feather. Good Luck

I usually spray mine with lysol and then wipe it down.

But inside I just open it up and use a small piece of cloth to wipe away the dust and put it all back together, sometimes I pop off the keys and put them in hot bleach water for awhile, but I haven't done that in a while and only if I have a spare keyboard.
Which I always do, that and a spare mouse.

depends if it's a desktop or laptop.

for desk top I turn over the keyboard and bang on the back, a LOT of junk falls out OR you can take off each key clean it that way but that's time consuming and if you mess up the order when putting it back on it can suck.

for laptop there's this can and it sprays air, we use it at work, it has a straw like thing same as WD40.

best of luck!

I usually stick to the ol' turn it upside down and shake it method, but for the more adventurous I would suggest buying a can of compressed air (available at most electronic /computer stores) and blowing the dirt out.

Of course if you're really bored you can remove each key individually (just remember where they go), give it a good shake, and put each key back where it belongs. PC World has a good article you should take a look at...

If you want to be thorough, pull off all the keys, shake it out, and clean out all the gaps with a cotton swab.

You can also disinfect the keys by putting them in a container with a bit of rubbing alcohol and shaking it around.

Buy a container [ spray can] compress air. First you could also flip the keyboard upside down and 'tap ' lightly on the bottom side of the keyboard, then use the compress air can.

I use the canned air and alcohol on a cotton ball and sometimes a q-tip, Especially if the computer is used by other people for sanitation reasons.

Good old rubbing alcohol on a q tip works for me.
