I admit that I was being very rude to her, but isn't 16 a little old to start? I do not live in the USA where spanking is quite common, where I live I have never really heard of anyone getting spanked, and definately not in public. Plus, she spanked me bare butt. What do you think? BTW, I know she wasn't being abusive, she was trying to discipline me.

Sounds like she was really trying to send you a message that she's fed up if she's never done this before and you're now 16.
I'd focus less on the fact that she spanked you and more on the fact that she's really, really trying to tell you something.
Maybe once things have calmed down you should talk it out with her, ask her why she did it and let her know how it made you feel.
Maybe you'll reach a better understanding so that neither of you has to go through something like that again.

Honey if you live in her house you are subject to her rules. If you break them then you should be punished. Including getting spanked especially when you were rude to her.
Being rude is a childish thing so she gave you a child's punishment. Were it me, I might have done exactly the same thing. If your going to act less than your age be expected to get discipline that meets that lesser age.
My daughters were both spanked into thier teens. One requested getting spanked instead of being grounded. So I obliged her. She is now 25 years old and owns her own business

Do you think you'll be rude to her again anytime soon? If not, then the spanking worked, didn't it? And if it's the same poolside episode you describe in your other question, you certainly deserved it.

Maybe she lost control and decided to treat you like a child because you were being nasty and a brat (from what you said). Sit down and talk to her about it and apologize for your behavior. Then tell her how you found it inapprpiate that she treated you like this and in two years you are going to out of the house.

i don't understand how you could be spanked bare bottom? I mean if my mom tried to spank me ((i'm 16 also)) i'd just walk away from her.

No decent mother would expose her daughter's bare 16 yr. old butt in public and then spank it. She'd rather bare her own butt in public.

I think you must have said something or done something very disrespectful for her to do that to you. I suggest you worry more about your behavior than hers.
