What on earth good could possibly come out of Iraq right now? I can just see it:
"Little Haifa Fariq was reunited with his dog, Scruffy, who was rescued from the rubble of a building the Americans bombed."

The media generally misrepresent by downplaying or failing to report the bad news; the purported good news that they don't report seems to consist of news that hasn't really happened.
Here's something else to consider:
The Iraq Freedom Congress (IFC; http://www.ifcongress.com/english/index.htm ) is libertarian, secularist, nonviolent, democratic, progressive group that opposes Ba'athism, Islamism, and nationalism -- as well as the US invasion/occupation. They believe that the occupation is the major cause of the sectarian violence, and that it will only end once the US occupiers leave.
Note that the IFC has also organized a self-defense Safety Force that patrols neighborhoods in Baghdad (population totalling 5,000) that has reduced sectarian violence there to nothing, while it continues to rage in the rest of the country. Far from offering support to the IFC, however, the US forces there have repeatedly attacked the group's offices, and recently assassinated the head of this Safety Force.
The mainstream media have never reported on the IFC or the US attacks against it. How do you think people would feel about the Iraq War if the media did so?

Simple. Iraq is a dangerous place to be. Period. It is not safe for journalists to travel to those areas where there may be some faint sign of progress. The ABC News employees who were killed on Friday on their way home from the Baghdad bureau are proof of that. Any journalist actually covering Iraq will tell you so. If it were safe to travel around, do you think people like John McCain would have to wear a flack jacket and travel with a batallion of 100 guards just to check out the local market? Besides, how much good do you think is going on. Reconstruction money by the billions has gone missing. Reconstruction efforts are literally blown up by insurgents. So... ?????

You are right for the most part, however the news did show how the people of Iraq were in the streets celebrating the country's soccer win. But yes, the news in general is quicker to report negativity. I too would like to know what other good things are happening over there.

A few months ago, I saw a news bit on Fox. A black sgt, had a boom box on the hood of a jeep, and was teaching a bunch of Iraqi children how to Rap.
The children were fascinated by this man, they were rappin ' along with him, and the sgt's squad members were lauighing their asses off.
No big deal, nothing earth shaking, but these children were learning that the US soldiers were, basically, good people.
How do you measure the good that will come of this? you can't. But for at least a few minutes, no one was getting hurt.
I guess only Fox thinks it's worthy of TV time to show children smiling.

Because people are interested in the war. What else is going on? What good things? You can hardly go to the market without worrying about somebody next to you blowing sky high and taking you with them. Listen to what Barry said about the rapping. I thought that was great

They try to report on good things, but the sounds of the roadside bombs makes it hard to hear what they are saying.
Doesn't seem like much ogod news is available without really digging...the bad news is right in plain sight.

Most Medea Companies are Liberal. Since most liberals oppose the war they only play stories that show that will enforce the liberal point of view. They would much rather tell the story of the numeroous people beingkilled because of the religious sect rather than telling the story of how a soldier saved a town square.

You need to switch to Fox News where they have some integrity in reporting. You're on one of those many, many liberal-leaning sites that continues to only report what demeans the conservatives. I stopped watching them a year ago!

Because finding good things that happen in Iraq is like finding a needle in a haystack.
