My boyfriend and I have been together for over 2 years. We are expecting our son Aug. 9th when I am being induced. We have lived together for almost 2 years. We talk about how it is great to become a family and he talks about how he wants to settle down, get married and be a good Dad. Recently, I got a letter from the apartment manager where we live that states we can only have one car and it is being changed to permit parking only beginning Aug. 10th. The extra car has to park on the street as do all visiters. He said to me "I will just have to get my own little place then". WHAT?! I said to him exactly how I feel about that, which was as nicely put as a nine month pregnant woman could put it. My point: We are not a family living in separate houses. I would feel abandoned with a newborn to take care of by myself. Plus, on my own with all the bills when I don't have a job and won't until 6 weeks after baby is born. So, I would feel walked out on.

His point: He says there is nothing wrong with getting his own place and he is excited for the baby to come so I shouldn't feel like that.
What do you think about this? I do not want to stay his girlfriend if he abandons me. Am I being stupid for feeling this way?

There is something VERY wrong with this picture. How can he be so selfish. He should just park his damn car in the road! I can't believe he would even say that and I don't even know you two! That's not being responsible, it sounds like he doesn't want the responsibility for having to wake up to a crying newborn every couple of hours and helping you around the house. How the heck are you going to get married if he doesn't even want to live with you? Don't fall for it and don't let him get his own place.

Wow......I am thinking this guy is really not wanting a "family" after all!! What a cop out!! All over having to park a little further away? Someone needs a check on reality, meaning the boyfriend! I think the spot above me had a very good idea and that is that the 3 of you should find another place together that has enough parking for the 2 cars, appease the lazy boyfriend! But you might also want to find out what the real issue is before the baby gets here and then you are by yourself with a baby to take care of on your own!! I have all the respect for you in whatever your decision is!! Let me tell yah it is rough out there being a single MOM but you can do it, if it comes down to it!! I have for 8 years and I am very proud of my daughter!!
GOD BLESS you

I don't think you're exaggerating. Who in their right mind would move out the day after their son was born? And for that dumb excuse of all things.
If he really wanted to stay with you and settle down and was actually excited about becoming a father, the correct thing to say was "O.k. honey, if this is how it's going to be be, I guess WE should move, let's start looking for a new place, I don't want to be away from my child and you." What he plans on doing is not right, and if I where you I'd dump his sorry butt, obviously his dumb. I don't mean to offend you, but I can't get over what he said.
Honey, if you think that this man wont be around, and are having your doubts about his fatherhood, and the supposed settling down plans, and all that, let me tell you, that it might be hard for a single mother, but it's not imposible! There are plenty of government help (if you need it) and I'm sure you have a family that would help you out. I know mother's that have made it on their own, some with more kids, you can do anything you set your mind too.
Besides, when we have children, we would do anything to provide a better life for them, even if a better life means growing up without a father. Sometimes fathers don't set good examples, and kids are better off without them anyway.
That's just my opinion.
I wish you the best of luck with this situation, I truly hope you can settle everything the way you would like it to.
CONGRATULATIONS on your little bundle of joy, you have truly been blessed with that little guy!
God bless you!

yes! since your landlord is technically "breaking" your lease for you it gives you an out...Suggest getting a different apartment with him that allows you to have more than one vehicle. You could also talk to your manager and state how grossly ridiculous this is, as long as your boyfriend and you are both on the lease you should be allowed to have two vehicles and not be inconvenienced like that. If he wants to be a family then be a family not a seperated family, that never works, and if he doesn't then tell him to take a hike! If he wants to be a family then move with him to a different place.

If he is going to move out because of permit parking, then he is just looking for a reason to leave. I am not trying to be mean, but that is not the way a person acts if he is looking forward to starting a family.

Sounds like you guys need to have a good long talk about this. How is it even practical for him to move? Then on top of your bills, and the costs of having a baby, he tacks on a whole 'nother set of bills! Doesn't sound like the wisest move. Ask him every question you can think of. Make him really really think about this, and how it would affect your financial situation, your mounting responsibilities, the amount of sleep you'd be able to get, and how very little he would ever have to do. Convenient, isn't it? for HIM maybe! Have a good long talk with him. He really needs to see that this would be a very unwise, unthoughtful, and very mean move to make on you. Good luck!

I think you should question this, and ask him if he plans on being around to help with the baby. You have the right to know this since it is not just his son, but yours too. Hopefully, he is not thinking rationally and is just stressed out do to the baby coming. I'm sure it is very nervous being a new dad, or mom. You guys need to talk, and need to communicate. Your relationship relies on it, as well as your son.

So he wants to move out just because he has to park his car on the street. This is just an excuse for him. If anything he would suggest both of you finding another apartment. Maybe you should find out why he REALLY wants to move out.

Absolutely not! That's totally unacceptable. The nerve to even say a statement like that. I would get pissed if my boyfriend said that jokingly being 9 months pregnant. So, what he can't park his f**** car on the street?

Oh man there is something really wrong here!!!!! Either he is scared about the baby coming or he has found someone else!!!! you really need to discuss this and fast. And where is he going to move to in less than ten days??? or maybe the question should be with who is he going to move with????? now is the time to ask as many questions as possible.
