Will it still be able to access wireless networks running on 802.11b only? g only? b and g?

Depends on if the WAP is setup to allow a mixed environment.

Older cards work on newer wi-fi signals (if they are allowed)
Newer cards work on older signals.

Hi there. In order of protocols released, you have b, then g, then n. Your wireless NIC should be intelligent enough to respond to the correct query initialized by the particular protocol sent out by the access point. After the connection has been established, there are various utilities out there to help you verify the speed at which you're connected.

So far each new draft presented has been backward compatible.
So if yo have one of the older machines that is 802.11 b or g compliant it will work on any router that is b-g-or n

Normally yes by default, but I think there is a setting.
