You don't want a doctor who is out for financial gain? OK, why do you think they became doctors in the first place? Hmmm #1 the money is good!!! , #2 they knew they were very smart and ambitious, # 3 they probably (most of them) wanted to help people!!!
Nextly, let me deconstruct your pathetic argument. First of all, Princess Diana would be alive today if that car crash had happened in the U.S. and not in France (I'm just saying)!!!! Second, a good percentage (20-30%) of the people in those nationalized health care systems pay for their own coverage and don't take the free care, so they get ahead of the line anyway!!! Why do you think so many people come in from Canada to get treatment here? It doesn't matter, things would be the same only the taxpayer wouldn't be overburdened with high taxes!!! Believe me, the system is a lot better here. Besides, if youre low-income, get on Medicare or Medicaid!!! I had a friend a while back who got a MERCA infection on his finger, he had to be treated for like 2 weeks in isolation, and had to get daily injections for 6 weeks!!! He's a minimum wage worker, and he didn't use any kind of assistance he'll pay every penny off the bill, so please dont say that it isnt possible for people to get by please!!!!

Very America has some great doctors but many of us can't afford them. Plus, US medicine concentrates strongly on treatment whereas socialized medicine focuses more so on prevention and cure. Socialized medicine would be an excellent option for the majority of the citizens that can't afford to buy into the current system. Have you ever been to a clinic? I tried to get some medical advice and they recommended a shrink ... lol. Too many of us can't afford any medical choices. The people answering this question that don't have any concerns about how they address their health care because they are insured (either because it's supplied by their employer or they can afford to pay for it) are obvious.

Why does everyone equate conservative with religious. I'm atheist, and conservative. I support conservativism because of economics.
I give at least 1/2 of my paycheck to the American people. I can garrantee that I do not get that back. You want health care, take the expense out of the taxes I already pay. I think half my economic life for my country is more than enough.
Why don't you complain about those who expect insurance at our expense. Why aren't you berating those without insurance who then have a kid, or several kids? Why aren't you berating those without insurance who have boats, or motorhomes, or other luxuries while not getting insurance? Why aren't you berating those who spend money on drugs, alcohol, or tobacco but not insurance. Why aren't you berating high school drop outs who can't earn a decent living? Why aren't you berating illegal aliens for using our health care system without contributing to it? Before you hold me accountable for not being "generous" enough, WHY DON'T YOU HOLD ADULTS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEMSELVES?!?
We have a lot of basic affordable (or free) health care available. Our current system is not underfunded for those who truly need it. The abusers and those who unrightfully feel entitled to the system are depriving those who need it.
To claim that the "worst totalitarian governments" have health care is absurd. Aint' true. Read the news. You know, the news where American Aid is provided for health care in about 70% of the world. Or the news of Europeans and Canadians coming to the US for health services, surgery, and/or elderly care.

The mistake you are making is believing that just because many conservatives are against universal health care, they are oblivious to the needs of the sick and injured. No one denies that reforms are needed, just that universal health care is not the answer. We all have the same goal, just the game plan to get there is different.

I've lived in two countries with nationalized health care. It's not as great as you think. the elderly get denied a lot of surgeries like hip replacements based on their age.
