TRAGIC! Leave Rock what it is.

Well, Rock is already music, and very meaningful and soulful.

But, Rap isn't really music. It is a story of feelings spoken as if poetic, but not really poetic. It is spoken with background accompaniment, but not any musical instruments that have been rehearsed or studied. So, it really doesn't qualify as music.

Webster says:
mu·sic
Pronunciation: 'myü-zik
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Middle English musik, from Anglo-French musike, from Latin musica, from Greek mousikE any art presided over by the Muses, especially music, from feminine of mousikos of the Muses, from Mousa Muse
1 a : the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity b : vocal, instrumental, or mechanical sounds having rhythm, melody, or harmony

Since Rap doesn't have any rhythm, melody or harmony is cannot YET qualify as music....sorry.

Its nothing new. Aerosmith and Run DMC already did it years ago. Rap music is a derivative of rock music, which is a derivative of the blues - its come full circle.
Most people probably don't think of rap this way, but rap IS a form of rock music.

It's not so good, rock is supposed to be just rock!
Personally I think Rap is C-rap but yet I listen to Linkin Park sometimes. I don't enjoy the rap parts though; because rap is not music to me it's just a pile of quick rhymes.

In certain ways it's okay.
If rock starts being sexual or portraying women badly I won't listen to it but rapping to a rock song is great. Brings back Kid Rock (my idol)

This is not a new concept. Public Enemy and Anthrax did a rendition of "Bring the Noise" in 1991 that topped the charts

NOT ALL ROCK WILL GO ALONG WITH RAP/HIP HOP, BUT A LOT OF HEAVY METAL AND (REALLY) HARD ROCK COULD WORK.

EX: RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, ANTHRAX+ PUBLIC ENEMY, SLIPNOT, SOME OF WHITE ZOMBIE (THUNDERKISS 67)
