Some certain users on here only ask questions that appeal to their base or to bait people with counter views.... Sometimes I answer these questions because there are really few questions that don't do this. Sometimes I put thought into my answers if it seems that they MIGHT want an actual and real opinion... but I really answer questions here to kill time so I could really care less in the end.

I have found that the law subsection is much better than just general politics for real and respectful debate.

NOTE: guffeetax is TOTALLY right

Not so proactively, but certain frequent askers make themselves quite known if they are simply trolls or are not serious about anything. Usually I won't answer those - or I should say, I won't answer those anymore.

Otherwise, I let an interesting question catch my eye and reply with no regard to what they've asked in the past, even if it turns out to be someone with a previous question that I've avoided.

Yes, I am hesitant to answer questions from new people, there seems to be a campaign of reporting answers that they do not agree with and then they disappear. It has happened to me 3 times in the last week. So I have passed over questions from very new people.

As a general rule, no; I consider the question on its merits. There are times when the question is really whacked out and I start wondering if the questioner is for real; that's when I check the person's history.

Only if I recognize them or theyre question makes me wonder about them.

Occasionally a brilliant person can sound like an idiot and vice versa-it is good to know which someone is before you answer certain questions.

I do put in thought to their posts but answer with what is on my mind. The is some fool here that asks the same question every day with his new profiles.

Yes, when the poster has a proven track record of being a shrill polemic twit, I will not waste my time giving a thorough answer that I know he/she won't even read, much less comprehend.

Unless very tired, yes.

But I also have a very narrow field of interest.

I fight bigotry and sedition, regardless of the side doing it.

I'm not so fast to help people gain ammunition for political or religious bigotry when it's clear they are adherents themselves. I encourage both sides in debate, respect for our leaders, patriotic protest and cheering, but when I see name-calling, treating people as "guilty until proved innocent", the spreading of exaggerated rumors, etc., I usually make those clear and point them out to others.

I'd love some help... .

Yes. If they've asked the same question before multiple times, I don't bother to answer. Obviously then, the question is not sincere.
