Build your own satellite with a high-res camera and giant zoom lens, a rocket to launch it, and a control system on the ground.

In other words, you can't.

Photography satellites are busy photographing areas of the world that haven't been photographed yet. They can only take pictures so fast.

There are legal as well as national security issues. Some sensitive areas are even intentionally blurred to hide the details of those areas. Also, the images are not free. Some older data is regularly shunted off in to the public sector, and can be used for things like Google Earth, etc., but paying for satellite imagery is very, very expensive. One step further, it takes a long time to collect and then select cloud-free images to stitch into these giant global mosaic images...not to mention that "someone" has to do all the data processing--which is long, involved, and sometimes very tricky.

I use Microsoft Virtual Earth. It seems better and is free. I also have Google Earth but use Virtual Earth.
