Think about it, they don't like evolution so they claim that it didn't happen. They don't like global warming so they claim that it doesn't exist. Our mission in Iraq is basically impossible to carry out, they claim that we are doing great!

I've met some intelligent conservatives but for the most part they just seem to be really irresponsible and immature, if you point this out they usually respond by calling a liberal communist. McArthyism is dead, let it remain dead.

They also support Faith Based Initiatives which is a large slap in the face of the constitution (it promotes the establishment of religion by providing government funding, this violates the whole not creating laws about the establishment of religion.)

I'm not trying to party bash, I'm just wondering if anyone else feels this way.

I somewhat agree, but, not only are they not responsible, but they are closed minded. They will not listen to anything that does not follow their pre-written talking points. They live in their own fantasy world, where they can have their cake and eat it too. Many of these neo-cons want to eliminate ALL the programs that served us well after the great depression, because they were instated by a Democrat, FDR. It started with Reagan, and goes on to the present day.

Yes, they want to give their churches money, but want the same churches to not be responsible for taxes. They are against abortion, but for the death penalty. They are against prostitution, yet use prostitutes. They are against graft and bribery, yet are bribed themselves. They are for 'family values' but have a higher divorce rate than 'liberals.'

No, they are not just irresponsible, they are hypocrites in the truest form of the word.

Whoa! Generalize much?

I don't know anyone who claims evolution "didn't happen". And most conservatives do see that the earth is warming; we just don't necessarily believe that evil mankind is 100% responsible. For Pete's sake - the Great Lakes were formed by glaciers - who's fault was it that those melted? Alaska used to have a pretty temperate climate - who's fault is it that the Ice Age came and ruined that?

As for immaturity and stupidity, have you *read* some of the "questions" on here posted by the left? Neither side has a corner on the market for ignorance and stupidity.

And I support faith-based initiatives; a local church or synagogue is much more in touch with the local community and can help out the needy far more efficiently than the government. Is anyone FORCING you to go to church? As for homeless people having to listen to a prayer before getting a free meal...hell, if I was hungry, I'd sit through a Michael Moore movie if I had to. Beggars shouldn't be choosers.

But I really had to laugh at your first sentence - conservatives are *all* about personal responsibility. YOU guys are the ones who find an excuse for any type of deplorable behavior. Guess what? I don't care if some murderer or rapist had a bad childhood. Lots of people had bad childhoods, and yet manage to be responsible citizens.

Finally, does it bother you at all that it's been proven that conservatives are *far* more likely to donate to charity than liberals? You guys are only generous with our money.

I definitely feel that way sometimes, but the truth is nearly always somewhere in between. I don't think it's in between on evolution or global climate change, but in Iraq I do. The situation in Iraq is far more complicated than anyone wants to admit, and the argument of "should I stay or should I go?" is oversimplified and outdated. Both sides are irresponsible on most issues. We would all be wiser to more fully examine issues for what they are and not buy into the parameters that are set for us by the soundbite debate system.

Oh, that would be real nice. You don't like what McCarthy did in the hearings and are quite happy with the way the left has vilified him all these years. So, now Communists get a free pass to subvert our country because McCarthism is dead?
Castroism is not dead, neither is Chavezism, and Mugabeism. These are current Communist Dictators who are still destroying lives while the Liberals in America are silent on these accounts.
The goals of Liberals are so similar to Karl Marx's goals, that you deserve to be called a Communist.
What is irresponsible is trying to repeat the same experiment which has failed time and again.
People have always worked harder when they are the recepient of the fruits of their labors.

I don't like evolution because I believe God created the world and everything in it.

I don't like being blamed for this so called global warning (because I drive a big pickup truck) and I especially don't like the idea of giving up parts of my life style to supposedly save the earth when the person who is the biggest mouth piece for the "issue" has not changed his life style.

I never supported going into Iraq my position is if Sadam was such a threat then just kill him, but I never supported defeat for America. and I don't think that we are doing great in Iraq but I know we are not losing and more importantly we must win

Yes, I do feel this way and you put it very nicely. But the thing for me that has cemented their irresponsibility is their reliance on rhetoric, talking points and character assassination to try and get their questionable points across. I'm tired of seeing them avoid pertinent questions about Bush's Administration by pointing to Bill Clinton instead of just addressing the damn question itself. I'm tired of the Republican members of Congress who have given Bush notice that he's no longer credible on Iraq, and those who have spoken out publicly against his policies just running their mouths but refusing to walk the walk and vote with the Democrats to do something about this mess. And they call Democrats cowards, amazing. If they feel that way they need to back up their rhetoric with action, but it seems that the party line is more important than truth to them these days. All of that smacks of irresponsibility to me. Good question.

evolution and g.w.( lol ) are weak, weak THEORIES.
Iraq is as neccessary an evil if ever there was one.

some REAL evidence of g.w. would be nice. i like the idea of trying to unite the entire world behind a common cause. fear tactics cause resentment too. supporting faith based inititaves is a good thing. faith has been proven to be good for you.

what's really irresponsible is ignoring things like 12 yrs of saddam thumbing his nose at the un(useful). creating markets for nonexistant products (carbon credits), by already (too) fat cats, and everyone being expected to just goose step to the march. bad bad bad.

Yeah, they do. They don't seem to care about the future repercussions of their actions beyond making sure the christian church has more power and they have access to plenty of energy sucking devices. You'd think what with their constant bellowing about family values, tradition and demanding that the world be stocked with more unwanted children that they'd want to ensure the earth would be able to house all those future generations comfortably. Instead they dump all over the people trying to keep the planet clean and healthy because it usually interferes with their pleasures.

I'm with you. What I see is a willingness to blindly follow the leader, and stay in lock-step with the party line, and to repeat propaganda as though it were fact.
And frankly, I think if you don't believe in Evolution, if you're so backward you deny one of the most basic tenets of biological science, no modern medicine for you. No surgery, no modern drugs, no transplants, no nothing. Just pray. Your supreme being will heal you, won't it?
