The RING is a symbol of love and devotion, when worn. It really shouldn't matter, where one buys it, as long as the essence for which it stands is there. For me, I wouldn't want a previously owned ring. But I'm just picky, and LOVE NEW THINGS!...lol

No it is not bad luck. The marriage is what you put into it and not where you get the ring, or how much you pay for it. I think it was jewelers that made up the thing about the ring should cost so many moths salary.

People that set a value on love and commiment by the price on the ring desrve a mate just as shallow.

Return the favor, buy that person a car. But it has to be a new car, not a used car.

I think it would be very unwise of you to base something as important as marriage on superstition. Further, buying a wedding ring from a pawn shop is actually kind of neat. You will have a wide selection of rings spanning hundreds of different designers, collections, and decades, in comparison to shopping in a store nowadays where the styles are so similar. Also, it is sort of neat to think that each ring has a different life behind it, or that it's vintage, or even rarer because you cannot find it anywhere else. Finally, as newlyweds, it would be a great way to save.

It was the owner not the ring that made the marriage bad. The ring I want if I ever marry again is a style from the 1920's...I see a pawn shop in my future faster than a jewler to recreate it. Sometimes money is a factor, too.
