By most impressive I mean who performs the best despite having certain thing against them. My top three are the Police, Rush, and Nirvana simply because they only have (had in Nirvana's case) 3 band members.

Your list is pretty good - except I'd remove KISS ,The Beatles and Foo Fighters. This is tough because I think the 70's in particular churned out some real memorable and impressive bands overall. I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head though!

I agree that these are the most impressive, although I might have replaced the Foo Fighters and Nirvana with the Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones...perhaps you have heard of them.
Otherwise, we can rock on cross country anytime!

It actually would be good if you could have defined what you meant by "impressive" like : who had the most top ten songs; who had the most albums; who lasted the longest; etc.
But, if you are wondering what top ten groups are on our own personal list by personal preference and flavor of musical style, here is what mine would look like :
10. Journey
9. John Cougar Mellencamp
8. Pearl Jam
7. Pink Floyd
6. Bon Jovi
5. Aerosmith
4. Smashing Pumpkins
3. Creed
2. Jane's Addiction
1. U2

the only two bands that have ever impressed me are the beatles and radiohead, and that's not to say that no one else has ever made a good song, it's just that no one else has impressed me in their ability to make so many songs and have them all be so good and original
