i have a 2000 kb/s connection, but can only get 500 kb/s "download speeds"and yes I do use a router. while i have several PC's with the same router all of the other PC's are older than mine, but have speeds up to 2400 kb/s. and i only get 500, even when nobody except me is using internet, because if others use it i get 120 kb/s, the most probable cause would be system settings, and pls no stupid answers like, "do u have 3 computers?" or "change ISP" or "get a new PC"
as I cannot answer any of your answers please, so not ask them, and try to answer all the possibilities if i have forgotten something, or alteast list what i have forgotten
ty very much

There are many many things that could effect your network performance. You've done a good bit of basic research, but you didn't provide any useful details. You say your download speed is 500Kbps - how do you know that?

Just because your PC is newer, doesn't necessarily make it faster. How do you connect to the network?

Try running the test below, what do you get?

i would take is his idea because you never stated any problem that is actually occuring other than speeds that can be anything and everything and nothing to do with the way its networked but with computer itself. ranging from, how much drive space is left, what kind of proccessor, how many programs are starting up when you reboot computer "aka restarting windows", computer needs defragged, temp files along with cookies need deleted and clearing history, signal strength of the router, ports needing forwarded, firewalls, all sorts of possibilities.
