Ricky pointing is a genuine match winner and a finisher whereas Sachin tendulkar is one of the greatest ever but never been a genuine match winner and a finisher.

Everybody will agree that Ponting is the more consistent and better finisher than Tendulkar at present and has better test batting average.He is two years younger to Tendulkar and ultimately may even beat more records.
Though now Tendulkar is a shadow of his own self,that should not belittle his earlier records and take away his greatness.He had his moments.

1.In the first Sharjah match against Australia he scored a century and lost the match but not before overtaking Newzealand on NRR to qualify for the finals.In the very next match (the finals) against Australia he scored another century and won the Finals for India.
2.In the 2003 WC his 90+(before getting out due to cramps) against Pakistan was the stepping stone for victory.

Untill 2003 Sachin Tendulkar was better than poning. Figures show us that.

Sachin suffered Injuries and was in and out of the team. Greg Chappel had different plans for Tendulkar a change in gear. Sachin started to play a slow game not his normal game. His game began to suffer.

After 2003 until 2007 worldcup. Ricky Ponting was better than Sachin Tendulkar. He was the best batsman during this period. He was on top of the cricket rankings always between 1 to 3 both in ODI and Test. He is the higest run maker in this season.

After WC 2007 Sachin has changed his gear. he's playing his natural game now. If he continues his same game, he would be again the best batsmen.

Ponting is better batsman than Sachin. Because he can adjust to all conditions. He plays well in England under swinging conditions, spinning pitches in the sub-continent and on the grassy pitches.
