Culpepper is under contract. Russell isn't and honestly I don't think he will be by Week 1. Culpepper IS the QB in Oakland, and even if Russell DOES sign he has to beat out Culpepper for this season now. Sucks to be him. Although sucks to be Culpepper, I mean come on Jacksonville took Tim Couch over him.

Andrew Walter is the most likely choice at this point. Culpepper still isnt 100% with his knee and he wont be by the time the season starts. It dont matter either, the raiders will suck no matter who plays. If or when Russell signs, he will be the eventual starter this year.

Russell is young and raw. He hasn't signed a contract and is missing the camp time and snaps he needs to improve his game. He doesn't have a play book. He isn't getting timing down with the o line.

Between those two, it's obvious Culpepper, a seasoned vet with an overall 90.8 Qb rating would start.

Hands down Culpepper goes into the season as the starter. Every single coach on any team will tell you: never throw the rookie to the wolves... unless theres absolutely no other way out. That's what happened to David Carr and other terrible victims of rookie QB's. The Titans really didn't have another choice with Vince Young, besides the fact that Young could scramble to save his life. I don't think Russell, or any other QB in this draft class, could scramble as well as Young can.
Let Daunte keep the job, and let him get clobbered behind a not-yet-formed oline. Once the O-line is solid, it could range anywhere from midseason to year 2015, let Russell take the hot seat.

neither but Russell would before culpepper. culpepper should not have played last year the dolphins threw him to the wolves anybody who watched one game with him playing he was limping from the start of the season until they pulled the plug on him but if culpepper is healthy which i doubt he should play

Well Culpepper will now that Russell isn't even in camp. regardless if Russell signs before the regular season, he's far behind where he should be. But i guess that's what greed gets you.

Culpepper, only because it's not wise to start a rookie and the alternatives, Walter and McCown, are even worse than Culpepper.

Well if that moron Russell keeps his contract hold out going on much longer it looks as if your first round choice was a waist and Culpepper will be your guy!
