yea i know its summer, my parents put me in this "summer school" so i'd be prepare next year =/

You'd have to assume that AB and CD are parallel, which is not shown in the picture you supplied but maybe mentioned elsewhere.

If so, EGA and GHC are the same measure, so you know:

2x = 5x - 54
3x = 54
x = 18

If you are NOT given that AB and CD are parallel, the question can't be answered with the information given.

assume AB // CD


2x = 5x - 54
-3x = -54
x = 18

m 2x = 5x-54
54 = 3x
x =18
