Is PETA evil? On petakillsanimals.com it talks about how horrible PETA is. Is any of this true? What is your opinion on PETA? What are some other animal foundations better than PETA?

I don't necessarily think PETA is evil. Yes, they stand for the "ethical" treatment of animals but they take it to the extreme. Not only that, but as posted on PetaKillsAnimals.com plenty of the founding members are hypocrites & the "nonprofit" organization euthanizes at least 85% of the animals they "rescue".

I'm certainly for the ethical treatment of animals even if they are being raised on a farm just to be killed for people to consume, but that doesn't mean we should all go vegan. What's even sadder is PETA is against having pets despite being supported by thousands of pet owners.

I hate it how everyone thinks PETA is the only organization out there that supports animal rights. There is also ASPCA which is the oldest humane organization in the US (being founded in 1866). & at least ASPCA supports meat-eating & vegetarianism as a personal choice. I'm still researching about ASPCA, but so far I have found nothing negative about them. They don't have as much exposure as PETA simply because they don't believe in using violence or doing anything illegal. They're all for helping animals but they don't go about being terrorists just to get things done.

Oh gawd! Petakillsanimals.com is run by Richard Berman, Executive Director of the Center for Consumer Freedom. The CCF is just as biased against PETA as PETA members are biased in favor of PETA. The CCF and the animal industries have each other in their back pockets, so they are definitely not going to offer unbiased opinions. If you want to find out about PETA and the animal rights movement, your best bet is to do your own research rather than relying on either side for information.

EDIT: I find it to be quite interesting that I, an animal rights activist, gave you an unbiased response unlike the "PETA is evil" people.

The Humane Society is more mainstream, but I don't know about "better." PETA is not evil. Some members may be a little extreme, but they really are all about what their name says: People for the ethical treatment of animals. They do us a wonderful service by keeping us informed of the terrible abuse animals suffer in various arenas, such as circuses, zoos, experimental laboratories and dog fighting.

I haven't been to that web site, but I have known for many years that PETA paid Eskimos to kill baby seals with clubs for their film crew. My school used to make us watch that video a lot when I was in K-6.

Any organization that puts animals above people is wicked (twisted). Those people are obsessed with animals. I'd suggest the humane society. PETA to me is a lefty, liberal, lunatic-filled organization.

I'm a huge animal rights guy and even i'll agree that PETA is basically a terrorist group. Vandalism, theft, and yes, even animal cruelty. They're like that eco-terror group earth liberation front or whatever.

PETA is not evil! They do a ton of work to try and stop people from harming animals.

The only thing they are evil guilty of is over-the-top protesting, which, in my opinion, is well deserved in some cases.

That website is obviously run by people who support violence towards animals.
