My son (now 22) has always been like that - he doesn't like art that doesn't look exactly like a photograph. But he's blunt - I suppose your dad is too.
Maybe you should change the question - instead of asking "Do you like it", ask him "Do you think I did a good job?" because that's a different question altogether.

Maybe he just doesn't have your ability to appreciate art. Have you asked him why he says no? Maybe the images you draw are not interesting to him, but that is not an issue. Hey, I am proud of you for drawing and practicing--you will grow as an artist and get better and better.
Ask dad if there is something he would like you to draw for him. Does he like cars, motorcycles, fishing, etc.? Then you could work (in secret) on a project for him to show him that you are getting some mad skills!
But listen, if he just doesn't seem to be very supportive, go on and do your thing anyway. You can't change some people's minds, and your love of drawing is too important to let anyone stand in your way.

Depending on your culture, it seems dad is of the closed mind generation. Art is a fine way to make a living. I'll tell you now, it's not an easy gig. It usually starts off with art school somewhere. I have been very fortunate to be able to do my chosen vocation anywhere on this planet of ours. It takes dedication, discipline and a strong disposition to stay in the industry. Could be your father is being your best friend. Arts are about communication, could be, you have to convince him this is what you want to do, then maybe he'll invest more time at fostering your ambition. Also your school counselor can help if the above washes out.

It's much more helpful to get an honest answer than an insincere compliment. I would ask your dad why he doesn't like your art and what he suggests would improve it. Don't base your opinion of your art soley on his (or anyone else's), but take it into consideration and decide which suggestions to use (if any). If it just isn't his taste there's no reason to feel bad about it at all. As far as "just drawing girls" goes, if you're serious about art you would benefit from trying out different subjects and media.

When you draw, whatever the subject might be, you are expressing yourself. Maybe your father is rude about your drawings because he sees you creating something that he will never be able to achieve. Just keep on drawing from the heart and don't try and change or compromise your work to satisfy him, as long as you enjoy your work then that is all that matters.

Maybe he's just not interested in Art. Some people are like that. They don't think Art is Important. BUT, if it's important to YOU- then keep drawing & practicing! Good luck! :)

You know the old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, well everybody's taste in art is individual to them. You may not be able to please your father, but that does not mean you are not talented. Some people are just not interested in art.
Don't be disheartened, keep painting.

You asked him if he liked it, he said no. Thats his opinion, okay it might be a little harsh. Everything my little 5 year old brother brings me that he's drawn is always fantastic. He shoudl be a bit more supportive but shrug it off, im sure your drawings are great.
