I refuse to drive a Ford, Pontiac, Chevy or any other American car because in my opinion, they're totally substandard when compared to Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Volvo, etc.

Without commenting on how you feel about my views on car companies, does anyone know if any rental company allows you to specify what make car you want to rent and guarantees that type of car?

Thanks!

Brainwashed, no. Educated, yes. With three state troopers in my immidiate family, I'm well aware of accident and fatality reports hence my propencity for cars with better saftey ratings. Which just happen to be foreign cars nine out of ten times.

I do not rent a car on Oahu. I ride the bus for $1.00 (senior citizen price). I only go to Oahu for medical reasons. Oahu is the crime capitol of Hawaii and the news always has some crime to tell about there. Also, the traffic on Oahu is the worst in the USA. That was on the news last night. My grandson came here to the Big Island and rented a car from Enterprise. His friend drove and he was 23 and had to pay extra.

Most major rental companies such as Enterprise, Hertz, etc...
usually have a variety of make and models of cars to choose from in certain price brackets. Just find out how much your paying for the rental then ask what your options (make and model) are.

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

If you don't like domestic autos:

Go to Toyota Rent A Car. They only rent Toyotas, they are dealership based, and you can choose your model. Toyota Rent-A-Car is dealership based, you get more personalized service than with the major chains such as Enterprise, Hertz, etc. Toyota's rates are competative with the major chains.

Good luck!

As of today ( Oct. 22 2014 ) , Enterprise rent a car DOES NOT let you choose the car you want. They do let you choose a car size class ( compact , full size etc. ).

Most companies will allow you to reserve a particular make and model. But many times it won't be there when you arrive.
