Many larger suv's and pickups are used to haul campers. It is possible that this was part of a dual battery set-up which uses twop batteries, both charged by the motor, but one is isolated for use only by the camper unit.

As reported, you prefer a set of cables to connect the two batteries, advantageous to advantageous, unfavorable to unfavorable. The cables could be VERY heavily routed and correctly secure so as that they do no longer seem to be broken. The advantageous cable notably - if it abrades, and shorts to floor, there will be a hearth. as properly, you will prefer a clamp or bracket to shield the 2nd battery in place. no longer such because of the fact the battery, this is going to value you between $50 and $a hundred. Is it properly worth it? including the 2nd battery will make the front of your truck heavier, which will have a unfavorable effect on dealing with and braking distances. in case you regularly carry a load interior the back, this isn't significant.

Some trucks like Tahoes are used to haul stuff like campers and need an extra battery for power (e.g. trailer lights, power a camping trailer) That's probably there for

the spot is for a dual battery setup made for the deisel version of your truck...You can make use of the spot if you power a lot of accessories or use a camper for extra power. My buddy has one with the same area and uses that battery strictly for his stereo system...12,500 watts of solid memphis audio equipment

A lot of the newer and bigger suvs made by Chevy are starting to come out with gas or diesel engines. The extra spot is probably for the diesel option for that truck.
