As opposed to child-friendly?
I got frustrated yesterday because Tony Stewart (racecar driver) was fined for cussing after winning a race. He was exhausted and elated, but he was "a bad role model for the children", according to a few people.
And now I read about a mother in Ohio who's upset because her condo won't let a child who needs diapers use the public pool. Instead of telling her son that it's for bigger kids or using it as motivation for his potty-training, she's suing the condo.

I can't have kids and don't want them, so I get treated like a hard-core child-hater for saying that things don't always have to be remade for small children. Some things can just be suitable for adults. And it's not that I hate kids--I love the kids in my life. I just want some things for adults. I want kids to have some things to look forward to.
Anyone else feel that way?

It's not a quest so much as a circumstance. But I'm happy being a babysitter, tutor and auntie than mother anyway.

I can see where you're coming from. There should be a balance between the rights of children and adults. I am a mother and adore children, but I understand that there are certain places and events that I shouldn't bring my son. He isn't potty trained and I would understand not being able to swim in a public pool. Even the swim diapers can leak, and other people shouldn't have to deal with contaminated water. I also know it's my responsibility to monitor what my son watches and hears. I don't expect the whole world to be G-rated to accommodate us.

Honestly I feel that you are hanging out with the wrong bunch. I know you are not snobbish or judgemental. But you are hanging out with people who are. That makes it a completely unsuitable environment for you and you are only going to suffer for it. Would you throw in a lamb with a pack of wolves and force it to get along with them? I'm not going to ask you if you really love this guy. Clearly you have a loving heart and a giving spirit. But I will ask you if he really loves you. Is he sensitive enough to know what you're going through even when you don't say a word? Is he concerned enough to comfort and protect you when other people (including his family members) bully you and want to make you feel bad? You job requires you to take care of patients. The difference when you go home is that your future husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law should be people who take care of you back and love you back. Why exhaust yourself on people who are going to be less grateful, more selfish and more rude than even your patients? You have a right in life to demand a quality of companionship and love. If you settle for this, you would have lowered the quality of your life and dreams. I know you can do a lot better.

Honestly I don't think it has anything to do with being kid or adult friendly- people get really worked up about swearing in front of kids and then let their kids watch television or go to public school....never heard swearing there *wink*
The mother in Ohio is a product of a society that will sue everyone for everything
Other than that I do think that society needs to do a 180- what since people in America today are so well adjusted to the environment

Interesting. I agree that we shouldn't have to make everything we do conform to "child-friendly" criteria. However, in some cases where children are obviously going to be present or watching--a NASCAR race, which is presumably family entertainment--then there should be standards of behavior.
I agree that too many people think that children have to come first. Our kids are being way too pampered, and have developed a huge sense of entitlement that is going to bite them when they get out into the real world and have to find a job.

I feel that way pretty much all the time. The problem with most parents is that they don't want their child to lose their innocence so they refuse to think in realistic terms. Then they have the knack for making single people (like myself) as the bad guy when I say I don't want any kids. You can't win when you deal with irrational people.

That one women is stupid I work for a pool and we don't let kids in diapers in the big pool either because if they poop in their diaper we have to close the pool and also if the diaper isn't a swim diaper it becomes to filled with water and breaks open then it can clog the filters and potentially destroy the filtration system

I know what you mean and agree, however, NASCAR and other public sporting events can't really be labeled PG-13 can they? What about Janet Jackson baring her ugly breast during the Superbowl? I guess the answer would be to delay all broadcasts so this stuff could be bleeped out... or of course, parents could guild their children through these situations, but we both know that's not going to happen.

I totally agree. And about the child wearing diapers in a pool!? That is disgusting.
What's more upsetting is that this idiot parent doesn't realize what a health hazard a diapered child in a swimming pool is.

It is just a symptom of the mania to force the world to conform to the individual's desires that seems so popular these days...not only will people not consider others, they get belligerent if it is suggested that anyone else has rights too...

AMEN SISTER!!! I think things have gotten way out of hand. But like you said, to speak is to be labeled a child hater. I bet there is people typing hate responses to you right now. You have my sympathy and my support.
