no just be willing to deal with it like any other parent would have to. if they can't take care of the baby. then they shouldn't have one. but if they can i don't see why not. some of my neighbors are mentally challenged and they have 2 baby girls and they seem to do alright. although things could be better i think but thats all in their choices and you just got to hope for the best i guess.

If the two are married and take care of themselves with little or no supervision and they want a child then no they're not selfish. Being mentally challanged does not mean you will have a mentally challanged child.

i think it depends on their mentality level. Not all mentally challenged think at the same level. Some are smart enough to learn how to take care of a baby. And as someone else wrote,if they have help, then why not!

There are levels as I understand it to being mentally challenged. If they are able to take care of themselves, work and be generally an asset to society, then why not. If they would be unable to care for a child, then maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea.

a bit but it depends on the situation lik if their condition is hereditary then yes but if not then not as much althou life will be difficult for them them and the children they have
there have been plenty of cases where mentally challenged people have had healthy normal children who go on to be successful adults

No. How would you like it if you were mentally challenged, and wanted a baby? Wouldn't you want to have your own baby?

It may not be selfish, but it definetly isn't fair to the little one. Unless, the two have someone of resonsibility to monitor the situation, then I think it is a bad idea.

no, as long as they aren't so mentally challenged that they can't cope. i think it's more selfish when people have 17 kids.

If their baby is going to be too much for them to care for on their own then yes it's not fair to their families and even if they are capable they should be informed of how it would be for their child, normal or disabled, to grow up with parents that other people are going to question constantly as to child rearing.

If the two are physically capable but not mentally capable, I think they should either name a third fulltime gaurdian to "fill the gap" or give up the kid for adoption.
