You will need to get a temporary vehicle permit if you are driving the vehicle to the repair shop and work, etc. If you fail twice, you fail twice and you have to fix the problem and try again, and again, and again, until you pass. Unless your state has a "attempted repair" clause, where you show proof that you took the vehicle to a repair shop, spent the designated amount of monies to fix the problem. Then you get an exemption until you have to have the vehicle tested the next time your tags expire, and you start the process all over again.

You need to drive this car both in town and on the freeway. do not go over 65 MPH and do a long slow down to a stop.
Have the Computer scanned to see if the "Monitors" are ready and you should pass. Monitors are the hardest thing to get ready for smog.
If you went to a Good shop, they would have told what needed to be done since it is only the monitors. Drive Cycles is all that is required for "This" problem.

When I went through the state's free inspection facility, mine failed twice for that. They just rejected two times. The 2nd time it went I had gone and got my car checked, and it worked for the station. So I went back and it failed for teh very same reason.
What I ended up doing the third time...was going to one of the inspection stations that you have to pay for...and miraculously (sp?) it passed with no problems.
Maybe you could give that a try.

My guess is that you can't get the car licensed unless it passed the test. You can't pass the test, so you can't licensei t for the road. That's what it sounds like to me.
Couldn't you just take it to a shop and have them take a look? It would be worth the peace of mind, knowing that you can drive your car to work and get home without it being towed away.
good luck

no longer something undesirable, odds are you merely won't get the activity. they gained't call the police or notify your mom and dad. some jobs they're merely searching for complicated drug use, and you may get the activity in case you fail a THC try. a minimum of its passed off to me.
