When the reality is they are all fanatic nationalists. Better at abducting random foreign nationals. I dont see how they can appropriate the word patriotism. Clearly the least patriotic is a team that supports voter caging, flat out stealing elections, selling out the Constitution for imaginary protection among other things.

I dont see intolerance in this question. I simply want to know how neocons have transformed the notion of blind nationalism into patriotism.

They've abducted it using the exact same strategy the socialists used to abduct "progressive". What you do is take a word with generally positive connotations, attach yourself to it like a leach, repatedly define the word itself to mean agreement with you, and wage a campaign to brand ANYONE who disagrees with you as un-xxxxxx. It's even more effective if the dissenters are branded with multiple labels that all mean the same thing. It's a lot of work to redefine a word, but if you can pull it off it will pay dividends. The key is just repetition. People don't want to think that they're fanatic nationalists, patriot sounds so much better. So they're willing to help fool themselves. Say it enough times and you'll believe it.

Are you really bitching about the elections in 2000? How did they steal it? It was counted and recounted. I'm sorry but if your not smart enough to figure out how mark a box or punch a chad then too damn bad, try again next time! The supreme court ruled, get over it already! Boo hoo we won the popular vote, well unfortunately for you the popular vote means nothing! Now that you've lost you're screaming that's not fair lets change it to suit our needs. I can't wait til a republican wins in 08 so I can listen to the new excuses.

Because the dems have left such a void there. A bumbling George Bush looks much more patriotic then Dinghy Hairy (surrender at any cost) Reid Gore did not want to count any military votes in Florida either. He just wanted to recount dem strongholds where they controlled the election boards.

Because claiming someone is unpatriotic is a very effective way to change the debate and ignore the original issue.
And yes, by definition, anyone supporting the Constitution is patriotic, and anyone opposing or disrespecting the Constitution is unpatriotic.
But because many people have changed the meaning of the word "patriotism" to refer to party loyalty, it has become a meaningless term.

same reason the commies kept political prisoner's for speaking out against the Bolshevik party....
to question ones government is tantamount to sedition for these people and they cover their evil by going under the lie that they are "protecting" and serving the people.
