I'm not sure about Scotty or Teemu but I don't think it looks good for Dustin. But a question for Mr. Taco, how do you know for sure that Brian wasn't offering Dustin other amounts of money before Lowe did this ridiculous $4.25 million a year for 5 years offer? What if Burke was offering Dustin anywhere from $1-$2 million a year for however many years and then Lowe came and pulled the same stunt he did with the Sabres? The GM of the Sabres, matched Lowe's offer to spite him, and good for them, they probably have the salary to do that and no future RFAs to worry about (I don't know much about the Sabres, I live and breathe Ducks), but I don't think that Brian "whined" about it, he called Lowe "gutless." Brian Burke and Kevin Lowe have... had a previous friendship or acquaintenceship and Brian thought that Kevin Lowe would have the decency and respect as a friend/acquainctence AND fellow GM to inform him (Brian) that he was going to make Dustin an offer before doing so, Brian didn't know about it until it came through the fax machine. Plus, Dustin was making the minimum for the NHL, $450,000 and to inflate his salary to $4.25 million a year, Lowe did it because he knew the Ducks were at the point where they had very little salary room left. Lowe IS a gutless P.O.S. and I don't know why he's still a GM, offering a (technically) second year player $4.25 million a year salary.

Chri1S60 is an idiot. Selanne is one of the most upstanding hockey players. I don't know where you get off calling him a whiner. You must be jealous or something. Now, to the question. I don't think the Ducks will match the Oilers offer, and with good reason. Penner will probably be a great player one day, but he is definitely not worth what the Oilers are offering. I don't think Burke can match for Penner, and then not do more for Perry and Getzy. As to Teemu and Scotty, I think they will wait until training camp to see if they can handle the physicality of the sport one more year. For the Ducks sake, I hope they can. GO DUCKS!!

They are not going to match the Oiler's offer to Penner, nor should they. I disagree with Burke's whining about it, too, because it is clearly allowed in the rules. If he didn't like it, he should have fought it before it was allowed. Lowe was smart to use the tools that were available to him, although he paid too much for Penner, hence the reason the Ducks shouldn't match it.
Regarding Niedermayer and Selanne, neither of them has made up their mind yet. It does not look good for either of them, especially Selanne. He was really excited about going out on top.

To chr1s60....
How exactly did Selanne cheat? just wonder, because I've followed him throughout his career starting back in his rookie campaign with the Jets and I'm not sure where this guy cheated. Yes, he did get into an accident in Europe and almost killed someone, but he didn't cheat anywhere did he? Hit me with some fact and I'll listen to your nonsense next time.

I know you are a Ducks fan, but why do you care about Selanne? The guy is seriously a whining, cheating, little girl. The Ducks and any other team in the NHL would probably be better off without him.
