I still don't get it. Why did people like you cry about Diana? She was spoilt rotten, had horrible dress sense, a whinging crank, and it would hardly be overstating it to say she was a tad promiscuous, what's the latest count on beds she hopped in and out of?

Did you know her? Meet regularly for coffee in Chelsea?

People who weep for wasters like this, who they didn't even know personally, seriously need to examine their own emotional stability.

Because Diana was a beautiful person who had more love for the world in her little finger than most people have in their entire bodies. Not only that but she also had an unhappy marriage and was ousted from the royal family and shunned from that house after her separation from the Prince, so in a way she was the underdog and I think most people will root for the underdog, there are many reasons that I really dont want to go into right now. It is just a very sad situation that tends to happen alot in royal houses, especially when there are powerful changes going on and people get jealous.

Apparently we're not upset enough.

I'm sitting in Burbank, where barriers are being put into the middle of Burbank Boulevard even as I type this. I would 'a' thought that with the example of Diana, no one would be eager to be putting unneccessary barriers into the middle of streets.

Hello,

Well like the song from Evita (Peron) said:

She filled a bull ring 45,000 seater
But if you're prettier than General Franco
That's not hard!

The press around the world just made a celebrity out of her...
much like Paris Hilton whose talents are about the same but a little lower in class and verbal skills.

Ultimately she was made an icon and kept getting shoved down our throats like it or not. Such is show biz and celebrity promotion.

Cheers,

Michael

I was personally upset because she was about my age and many of the events in our lives paralleled. My GFs and I followed the wedding avidly when she married, our children are about the same age, I lost my parents too, and I was divorced. Seeing her boys in the funeral procession just broke my heart. Harry was so little then. I think her death made me realize the loss of so many hopes and dreams and plans I had as a young woman. Not to sound melodramatic.

She was an inspiration and a role model for many people, and I was one.

Not only was she a figurehead, but her story was the closest anyone got to as the princess fairy tale. In public, she was the chosen princess to marry the crown prince of England, have children and live happily ever after. It was the dream of many young women and was lived through her.

The fact that she had a tragic ending only made the fairy tale even larger than life.

It might have something to do with the fact that she was a dear, sweet, caring person that was very well known world-wide.

Btw: King Henry VIII and two of the signers of the Magna Carta are my ancestors. Just because we're yanks doesn't mean we don't have ties to the UK.

Because the American people love a tragedy. Espically women (sorry girls) on a whole.

Plus women identify with a beautiful princess. She was also a big philanthropist, who helped with causes. Plus it was tragic that the photographers were mostly to blame for her death.

Because she was a pop culture icon. She did a lot of good will projects for Third World nations (especially a campaign for the removal of hidden land mines).

She was very much loved by individuals of all nations.
