In the past few months, I have been having a bowel movement many times, less than once a week. I do my biking 3-4 hrs. a week and walk to and from school every day, as well as walk my dog 30-90 min everyday, so this contradicts what my parents say that I don't get enough excercise. Each time I go, (once every 6-10 days normally) I obviously go a lot, and it is really painful. Also when I gotta go, I gotta go. I used to be able to hold off for several hours. For some reason I also start to shiver and sweat, which makes it very uncomfortable, and it normally takes about 20-30 min to go. Today, I noticed streaks of blood on the poop, towards the end when it was most painful. In addition, I weighed 105.5 lbs this morning and 101 lbs now. I am 15 years old.

I went in to see a urology clinic a few months ago as well for painful and frequent urination, although I don't think it is related. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

It's constipation. I've experienced it many times. And the blood is either that you're tearing your anus with huge stool or you're forming hemorrhoids from pushing so hard (you're not supposed to have to push but just a little).

Every 3 days is the limit of normality. Every day is better. So you can do this one of 3 ways: #1 Eat more fiber. I tripled the fiber in my diet and it didn't help at all. #2 Fiber-Con. Wal-Mart makes a generic fiber tablet that you swallow every day to stay regular. I take 3 a day. #3 Miralax--This is the best stuff. It makes sure that there is moisture left in your intestinal tract. No cramps, no side effects, you just go comfortably. It comes in a powder that you mix in your OJ or mashed potatoes or smoothie or whatever. It has no taste and the texture is undetectable. You won't know it's there. And it works 6-8 hours later to a day.

Wow, you sure exercise a lot. That's great. I hope you try these measures and they fix your problem. I suffered with that for years and years, and I still have occasional trouble. It's traumatic and SO uncomfortable and embarrassing when it's so urgent right now. Get better, sweetheart.

Sounds like you may have Crohns Disease. It is very painful, you pass blood, lose weight etc. It is a disease of the intestine that will come and go. If you ignore the symptoms long enough you will end up in the hospital. Any time you pass blood it should be taken seriously and you need to get to a doctor. Tell your parents right now and go see your doctor. Don't get scared, I have had bouts with this disease for 7 years now. It can be controlled. Good luck, promise me you will go to your parents and let them know what's going on.

You don't say what the color or consistency of your stool is but I'm suspecting that it is very hard. You sound like you may be constipated secondary to chronic dehydration. There are several disease processes which may contribute to constipation as well. The presence of a small amount of blood in your stool may or may not be significant. A large amount of blood in your stool may indicate lower gastro-intestianal bleeding and should be evaluated by a physician right away.
You don't mention whether you have other symptoms such as abdominal pain and/or cramping. If the amount of bleeding is small you should try significantly increasing your daily water intake to see if this will soften your stool and/or increase the frequency in which you move your bowels. Good luck to you.

You could have Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or Diverticulitis, or it could your diet such as sensitivy to gluten as in Celiac Disease. The shivering and sweating, fluish feelings sounds like inflamation in your intestines. Please go to a gastroentologist who can diagnose you properly. It's not normal to only go once a week and its definately not normal to have blood in your stool all the time. Make sure you are drinking enough water. Ask your doctor if taking stool softeners would help you while you wait to see a specialist.

Eat more salads, lettuce, fruits (apples and prunes), and vegetables. Diet either makes things flow nicely, or gives you constipation. Avoid fast food, as it makes you stuffed up.
