California Democrat politicians are stubbornly refusing to reduce the billions of dollars spent on undocumented people. Because of Democrats, Republicans are forced to cut money from other parts of the budget.
The money thrown away on undocumented workers could be spent on hiring more public safety officers to fight gangs, lowering tuition for deserving college students, fixing hospitals that are not earthquake safe, buying new fire fighting equipment for cities around the state, etc..
Currently, Democrats in California want to spend an EXTRA $700 million on undocumented workers. Republican politicians are trying to block the spending by proposing spending cuts in other areas.
Currently, California alone spends over $10 billion a year extra because of undocumented workers. That is $50 billion in the last 5 years.

Last year, Governor Schwarzenegger asked California voters to approve a $55 billion bond measure to rebuild levees, bridges, schools, and to build new prisons. California voters would not have to pass the measure if undocumented workers were not in the state. Taxpayers must pay for the bonds and for the interest on the bonds.

California does not need undocumented workers. The problem is farmers refuse to buy new farming machines when they break. Instead they hire undocumented workers which is cheaper. That maximizes profits but it puts a burden on taxpayers.
Growers also refuse to pay decent wages because they know they can rely on undocumented workers. Not too many years ago, Americans were the ones being paid to pick fruit from trees. And, using new farming machines makes picking fruit easier than ever.

Why? what is wrong with the undocumented workers? Those undocumented workers are slowly but surely about to become the backbone of the great american industry. Do you know why? Because this undocumented workers are more industrious, hard-working, intelligent and better-educated than most most average american industrial workers. Why Democrats are caring about them is simply because they foresaw that this undocumented workers can greatly help the great american economy running with out complaints, without setting demands and conditions compared to the native american workers. An ordinary establishments can save much if they hires undocumented workers. That is why they also deserved and ounce of protections from the goverment. And we really appreciated what the Democrats are doing. So instead of complaining its high time for the american workers to step up and show thier worth and show to the world that they are much ahead better than this undocumneted workers and stop crying like a baby. After all USA is the greatest and the most powerful country in the world and the american workers should act as one.

The Dem and Pub platform is to have open borders. Originally it was to ease into Globalization.
Right now the North American Free Trade Agreement is in full swing and this involves open borders. The Mexican government is pissed because NAFTA backfired on their middle class people and put them into poverty as well as many US workers.
Although it has made the rich in Mexico even richer as well as the USA.and Canada they still have elections and try to appeal to the people just like the Dem and Pub parties in AMerica are doing by prolonging and faking this immigration bill.
The Mexican government demands Amnesty for their poverty stricken immigrants. They do not want them back. If America sends them back that ruins corporate America's push for NAFTA.
Read into it. You can do several searches from actual news articles and reports off the internet.
Clinton was the first Pres to initiate this agreement and Bush really pushed to advance it. Nobody bothered to brainstorm the holes in the program that has already drowned millions of people. Nobody cared to enhance the Food and Drug Admin. efforts to regulate the products coming into the US. Instead the department was reduced.
There is so much information of the entire domino effect of NAFTA that will make people see things a little clearer from Immigration to our loss of farmers to food imports. It never seems to end. 90% of it is harmful to a sector of our population. An entire generation is being hurt by this but the government probably sees these people as just necessary casualtes of war for the betterment of America. An economic war that is.

Why Do Democrats Care More About Undocumented Workers Than Americans?
Asked By a_bush_family_member
If you are a Bush family member then I sorta understand why you might think Democrats are not Americans. Mr. Bush seems to feel that only his faithful supporters are true Americans and all others might as well be democrats.
Mr Bush has only one concern in this whole matter, he wants the "Guest Worker Program" that he promised the energy Industry. Mr. Bush is willing to sign any bill congress comes up with as long as it includes his guest worker program.
Already in Ky lawmakers are working toward changing a law that requires certified underground coalminers to be able to speak english. Coal mining is already a dangerous occupation and communication is essential to the health and safety of the miners.
Already in Mexico there are recruiters signing up young Mexican men to come work in Ky coal mines. The coal industry justifies this by saying that Appalachian men and women no longer have the same work ethics they once had. This may be true, they are no longer willing to kill themselve for the coal industry, They are no longer willing to practice unsafe methods to increase profits, they are no longer willing to go home empty handed after giving a lifetime to the coal industry..
We all know that undocumented workers are a problem but its a problem that can be resolved if Dems and Reps work together. Why not let cogress come up with a solution for those already here before we pass a law to bring more. If the "Guest Worker Program> has merit it can be brought up for debate at a later time. Us solve the current problem before we create another.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't California have a Republican Governor? And didn't Republican President George Bush try to push through what amounted to an amnesty program? And didn't Ronald Reagan push through the last amensty program?
You are right that many Democrats promote various programs for undocumented workers. But don't try to make this a one sided issue. How about a little honesty (or is this like the honesty we see from Gonzales and Cheney?).

I think you may wish to re-word your question to "some" Democrats.
I typically vote Democrat, and I am AGAINST illegal immigration. Sorry, but I don't see how anyone is helped by allowing someone to break the law, and then try to explain it away as "it is because they are poor". I challenge anyone to go through the prison system and find an entire prison full of people that broke the law because they were so rich that they just felt like it. A majority of the prisoners in the US committed their crimes due to poverty. Are we going to open the doors to the prisons and allow everyone that broke the laws due to being poor out??? Doubt it.

It is to our benefit to pass immigration reform. Businesses and taxpayers would gain from recognizing the problem and dealing with it in a realistic manner.
Bush, the other Republicans and Democrats could have come together on this issue but most Republicans were too busy catering to their ethnic hater base in order to honestly and effectively address the issue.

Several fingers can be pointed. Why doesn't immigration send the undocumented workers back where they came from? Why aren't the people who hire them fined?

Illegal immigrants have nearly destroyed California. We went from being the state everyone wanted to be: educated, well funded, clean water and air, to the worst state in America as far as air pollution, overcrowded schools, failing infrastructure, and budget deficits.

So what youre saying is that illegals dont deserve to be able to provide meals for their families. Its funny how you Americans say your country is the land of opportunity, but only if we allow you to have the opportunity. Illegals are people too.
