He wishes to have the public schools teach five year old what he terms "age appropriate" sex education.

So yes he does.

I teach my children about such matters and would rather not trust Obama and his ilk to decide what "age appropriate" is for my children. My kids attend private schools, and will never attend a public, so called, "school".

I love to see ignorance and some of your responders fit the bill perfectly.
Obama indicated " age appropriate" and he is RIGHT!!!! If some people would stop burying their heads up their butts they would realize that the average age of a child who has experienced molestation is before the child turns 8 years old, with some of the victims as young as 2 years old.
Now you have an admitted pedophile advocate who has a website which indicates to other sick bastards where they can go to find " little girls" they can touch.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20060340/site/newsweek/?nav=slate?from=rss
If the parents and they are plentiful, even the ones who claim they want to be the ones to teach their kids, don't start teaching them from an early age. They claim they will but they wait and wait and wait.... .the sicko ain't gonna wait.
In South Florida 6 weeks ago, there was a case of child rape. The boy was 18 months old.
Another case where the girl was 4 years old.
I just got a stinking flyer in my newspaper on Sunday which showed 49 men and 1 woman who are being hunted for because they committed a crime of sexual assault on a child under the age of 16, 33 of whom committed an act on a child under the age of 12
He advocates teaching if not reinforcing what the parents should be doing- telling their kids that if someone touches their private parts and they are not supposed to- IT IS BAD!!!!

He stated that, but what he was referring to is teaching children about the "good touches" and the "bad touches", thus empowering children to take charge against sexual assault and molestation. He thinks we need to be talking to 5 year olds. And since the average age of a victim is 3 - 6 year old, I don't think he is entirely off track. I think that the need to do so is much sadder than someone suggesting a way to help stop it.

FOX is for kids, silly wabbitt! Don't believe the hype. Fox is basically a bunch of extremely intelligent people who rely on a bunch of extremely uneducated people who watch their "news". Like the Republican party, they would not exist without a following that consisted of generally ignorant people. Obama has HAD to deny this silly accusation many times before. PLEASE pick up a newspaper, and put the FOXicles down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, age appropriate...now what's age appropriate for a 5 year old? Do I want my kids to see cartoon pictures of children touching private parts or do I want to tell my children what I deem important for them to know when I think it's age appropriate for that particular child??? Hmm, I think it's best left to the parents and not the government funded socially acceptable crap.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told Planned Parenthood that
"sex education for kindergarteners, as long as it is age-appropriate, is the right thing to do."

I don't know what he said. But given the number and nature of sex questions asked on this very site by CHILDREN, it may not be a bad idea at all.

No, I think he will let teachers do that, as he could not possibly teach every five year old in the country.

He did say that it should be "age appropriate".

What the hell that means is anyone's guess.

He REALLY said that he wanted to start sex ed in kindergarten. Then he tried to wriggle off the hook when he realized his gaffe by saying it should be "age appropriate".
Kids that age have no concept of sex and do not need to be sex educated.
